O is for Oscar

Hi everyone! Today is O day for the A-Z Blogging Challenge. We are recommending Making Rounds with Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of An Ordinary Cat by David Dosa. I am sure most of you have heard of Oscar and his ability to know when patient’s at an Alzheimer’s facility were ready to pass on.

Oscar

This book was published in 2011, but I didn’t read it until last year. I was afraid it would be too sad, but it really wasn’t. Lucy and I used this book for our O last year in the A-Z Blogging Challenge.

You are not seeing double in the photo. We have our own copy and I bought an extra copy at a book sale that we are going to give away. Just leave a comment on today’s post to be entered. Phoebe will announce the winner on Wednesday. I apologize that we can only offer the giveaway to US residents, but you can enter for a friend in the US if you don’t live here.

I also want to join The Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? Blog Hop

I am reading several books, but my favorite isĀ  Paper Love :Searching for The Girl My Grandfather Left Behind by Sarah Wildman. The author tells of her travels around Europe to find out what happened to her grandfather’s girlfriend during The Holocaust. He had managed to get out of Austria and come to America, she stayed behind to be with her mother. The author finds several letters to her grandfather that ask for help to get her and her mother out of there, but she knows he was unable to help. It is very well written and has me hoping she finds out that the woman survived.
