Nosey Rosie’s Gabfest

Hi everyone. It has been a quiet week with no kids around.

Check this out- Friday is being nice to me.

I heard my dad tell my mom that the corn he came home with the other day cost a buckaneer at the farmstand in town. I didn’t know we had any buckaneers and I had no idea they could be used to buy things.  Learn something new every day.

I was scrolling through the photos on mom’s laptop and found some unusual ones.

This is my dad getting the 2 remote control boats going. Dad made that table with stones and a bench for them to play cribbage by the pond. Mom added that skeleton years ago, she named him Bobby Bones (like the dj).

Only one boat worked that day, but they are both working now.

My folks made 2 concrete pumpkins. They are still in the tights drying until tomorrow. Then they will peel off the tights and spray paint them orange.

Oh, I almost forgot, Trouble has something to tell you.

Did you know that Black Cat Appreciation Day is coming up this Saturday? Be sure to stop by, I am having a giveaway of black cat themed items.

Well, that is all the news for this week. I am off to relax until the kids come over again.

  1. Rosie, love the picture of you and Friday! So much news today! Such interesting boats and what a cool pond! What a nice Dad to get the boats going! The pumpkins look great and I bet they’ll look nice and spooky when painted orange! Great pic of Trouble! We and all our kitties, but especially the black ones, are looking forward to Black Cat Appreciation Day, and will be sure to visit you! We’d like to do a post on our blog but may not be able to, we’ll see. XO

    1. Thank you. 🙂 Yes, they painted the bottom half today and will finish them tomorrow. Black cats are cool. XO

  2. That is great that the boats got working again!
And Bobby Bones at the table made me giggle. He’s ready for Halloween!
Don’t drop a pumpkin like that on your toes…
Have fun on your special appreciation day, Trouble!
And Rosie, I hope Friday will be your friend, now…and enjoy the peace and quiet!

    1. Always ready for Halloween around here. 🙂 Yes, they need to be careful with those pumpkins. XO

  3. Dearest Ellen,
That is a lot of fun photos with equally fun stories.
Friday and Rosie on the bed is sweet!
Good thing that Dad got those remote control boats going again!
Had to look up what cribbage was—a kind of a card game.
Nice table near pond for playing!
Love Trouble’s message and our Spooky is the only one of four black kitties left here.
Bet those pumpkins look so real when done!
Hoping I can go back to sleep again, was writhing on the mattress from pain.
Vascular surgeon told me yesterday that this constant pain since surgery for placing stent–graft due to aortic tear, might have more to do with the accident than with the surgery. Think so too but what a nice gift for getting hit with lifelong pain left…
    Hugs,
    Mariette + Kitties

    1. Thank you. 🙂 We had a Spooky too. We have Trouble now and 5 black kitty angels- Spooky, Drake, Tallulah. Noel and Jinx.
I am sorry you are in so much pain. That sounds awful, Mom will pray for you. XO

  4. That was nice to share the bed with Friday. I hope she stayed being nice to you. Those remote boats look fun. My brother and I had one each when we were children and used to take them to the park to play in the boating lake.

  5. Rosie, this is definitely a fun post today we get to see your dad in the pond that we didn’t even know you had. And now there’s these new pumpkins that are going to get painted orange. Wow a lot of info today.

    1. Thank you. 🙂 We actually have a few ponds that dad’s dad had built in the 1950’s and 60’s. XO

  6. Being near the water on a warm day is nice. Alright, I’m glad to see your mom got to do the concrete pumpkins DIY project. I can’t wait for the unveiling of the final products. 🙂

  7. Wow! Rosie, that is a great pic of you and Friday and I am glad Friday is being nice to you! I can’t wait to see the concrete pumpkins when they are finished! And cool pics of your dad by the pond. Btw, I love black cats.

  8. Rosie, how nice that Friday wanted a friend and asked YOU to be that friend. XX And I really enjoyed seeing your Dad out there enjoying himself— and seeing what he has done, like that great table he made to sit and play cribbage or any board type game and getting the boats ready !

  9. Your family has to be one of the most fun families we have ever known and I’m sorry that it is not closer to where we are so that we could enjoy their kookiness ourselves! Boy, would we have fun or what?

  10. Chaplin: “I think we have that same blanket here, or one that’s a lot like it. It is excellent for making muffins.”
Charlee: “Orange concrete pumpkins? Our Dada approves!”
Oona: “And Oona approves of Black Cat Appreciation Day. Feline ninjas rule!”

  11. Rosie, I’m thinking your home is on some lovely land. Reminds me of our Tiny Ten in MissouREE. It tickles me to see you and Friday together at the foot of the bed. The pumpkin project looks to have gone well!
Trouble, I will be here on Saturday!

    1. This area is across the street from our house and up a long private road that dad inherited from his dad. XO

  12. I want to watch the boats race on the water. How fun.

I love visiting all the kitties and seeing what they are up to.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to all the kitties and a big hug to mom. ♥

  13. Oh MY CATS wish I had some of Dad’s buckaneers with me today.
We went to our farmer’s market….which is way too far to drive 34 miles round trip) when the prices are also too high. We wanted some shelled butter beans.
They had a small zip lock bag aboug 3/4 full…wanted $7 buckaneers for it.
    We say no thanks.
    Hugs Cecilia
