Friendly Fill-Ins Week 509

Hi everyone. Time for the fill-ins. I came up with the first two sentences and my wonderful co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two. If you didn’t do a post for them, you can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you. The link is open until Wednesday night.

1. I rue the day ________________.
2. One thing I wish I had closure with is __________________.
3. _________ recently took a turn for the worse when _________.
4. My _________ has improved thanks to _________.
My answers:
1. I rue the day I chose Elementary Education and Psychology as a college major. I wish I had chosen writing or listened to my mom and studied Accounting.
2. One thing I wish I had closure with is ending my therapy. I went for 14 years and when I emailed him saying I wanted to end it, I figured I would have one more session, but he wrote back, ” Sorry you don’t feel our sessions are helpful. I wish you the best. “
3. My day recently took a turn for the worse when I realized my toaster oven no longer worked. I use it more than my regular oven which is probably why it no longer works.
4. My baking has improved thanks to parchment paper. Kind of an old answer because I have been using it for over a year now, but my cookies come out much better.
We are joining Feline Friday now hosted by Messymimi
My flashback is from March 2019. Angel Joanie was dressed for Dr. Seuss Day which is one of our favorite days. We will be having a giveaway this year for Dr. Seuss Day so be sure to visit.

  1. Oh, sweet Joanie. And as for your therapist, mama has a few choice words for whoever that is!!! And mama JUST started using parchment paper and yes, it’s great for those maybe-could-stick vegetable thingies they show on Instagram that you make very thin and then roll up things in them. Magical. What a rude therapist……unbelievable. But clearly you are doing just FINE without one.

  2. Joanie really knew how to show off that hat!

Parchment paper is VERY useful, indeed!
I am sorry that rude therapist dissed you like that. You’re better off without the likes of him.
We also use our toaster oven way more than the big oven. I think we are on #4 in 38 years LOL!
Sorry I am skipping my own fill ins this week…

    1. Yes, she did. I am better off, I feel a lot better without. This was my first in 33 years, but only lasted a few years. XO

  3. Love Joanie’s hat! I think your therapist – especially after 14 years – owed you a bit more in the way of a farewell and certainly a last session! Parchment paper is a wonderful thing…..I use it a lot.

    Hugs, Pam

  4. Angel Joanie was always such a delight. I think your therapist really wasn’t very professional at all and he should have actually called and spoken to you on the phone. I’m like you with the parchment paper, I’ve used it for years. Good luck cooking without two ovens, lol.

  5. Ellen, your #2… Hugs♥—Similar for me in 2001. I have a funny story about my Mom and her toaster oven. I won’t go there but let me just say that she and her toaster oven were legendary. Thanks to Jerry I discovered parchment paper at Christmas when he gifted me a cookie press gun… think Spritz cookies😋 Then there were dozens of uses for parchment paper… who knew??? I don’t leave the house without it! Joanie… she will always be in my heart❤️
    My Fill-Ins~
    1. I rue the day I gave up horses and riding.
    2. One thing I wish I had closure with is the loss of my best friend who passed away recently. We were dear friends from grade school.
    3. _________ recently took a turn for the worse when _________. I could not think of a thing for this without being gloomy.
    4. My mood has improved thanks to having Jerry’s brother and family from Missouri staying just a bit south of us for two months. It is nice having them so close. We have vacation with family two hours away! I am back to commenting now that things have settled down some.
It’s Friday, Meowing Crew… let’s make it a happy weekend!

    1. Thank you for these great answers except I am sorry about your friend. Glad you discovered parchment paper too. How nice you have family close by for now. XO

  6. Angel Joanie looks adorable in that hat. As for the therapist, his actions didn’t seem very caring, and you’re better off without him. I use my toaster oven more than my regular oven too, and it’s 12 years old.

  7. Angel Joanie, who is in my heart, looks precious in her Seuss hat!
I was going to give the fill-ins a whirl…I love that feature the two of you provide…but all my fill-ins would gave been books!

  8. I discovered parchment paper about 5 years ago and it’s a game changer. I love it! I even use it for bacon (which I bake).

  9. The fill-ins are too deep for me this morning. I’m not awake yet. More coffee is needed.

Love the hat and it’s almost Dr. Seuss day again.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Ellen. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to the kitties. ♥

    1. I tutored instead because I could never control a classroom- I am a pushover. I did teach CCD though. XO

  10. Great fill-ins. Sorry about the therapist response. Seems totally insensitive and harsh. Angel Joanie is adorable wearing that Dr. Seuss hat. Happy Fri-Yay.

  11. actually answering as myself today….now there’s a switch….😸‼️
you have published books, and will ALWAYS be able to write, and as good as
you are with, and as much fun as you have with the kids….I don’t know why you
don’t either offer day care in your own home, or become a sub teacher every
now and then…. ( plus …..math is like mackerull sayz…..😼😼🤢

    1. Thank you. You are too kind. My hubby is afraid of being sued so no home daycare and I did the sub thing years ago- never again. XO

  12. I agree about college, I could have stayed and gotten a degree in something useful.

Angel Joanie was a great Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat. Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday.

  13. I just had to replace my toaster oven too! I use it for everything. I probably only use the big oven 3-4 times a year. It was a real struggle to find a replacement too, everything I found online was either too big for the space I have or way too small. I ended up getting one much smaller than my old one but I figure now that I’m only cooking meals for myself it’ll work out okay.

  14. Angel Joanie was very cute in her Cat in the Hat hat. That was not very kind or professional of your therapist. And, Ellen it is never too late to go back to school! Of course, our mom should talk: She always wanted to get her MFA, but she never got around to it. 15. I’m sorry about your therapist. Can you reach out and ask for closure? I’m sure some folks do, though I’ll understand if you don’t as I probably wouldn’t. lol A lot of appliances died here last year but we discovered a bright side because our new air fryer and dishwasher are both vastly better. ~nods~ Hugs, my dear.

    1. I could, but if he says no, I would be even more hurt. Glad you like your new appliances. XO

  16. too bad about your toaster oven. Hope you can get a new one. We have one but no place to put it on the counter. I’d like to use it though. 🙂

  17. Angel Joanie is so cute in her hat!!! Wow, on the therapist, and not a good wow. Glad you got new appliances. We’ve been having fun with a broken dishwasher, a leaking radiator, and then the pond pumps failed… the diswasher is fixed and new radiators were replaced over the weekend… the pond will have to wait a little longer as it needs draining. Happy Monday, and we hope mew have a pawesome week.

    1. Thank you. I think all the appliance failures has to do with some planet in retrograde. 🙂 XO

  18. Charlee: “Our Mama has a degree in Elementary Education too! But she hasn’t used it very much, on account of jobs were hard to find back East, and when she did have her own classroom out here the school closed after a few years …”
Lulu: “Our Dada uses the toaster oven a lot too! He used to have a nice one but then the door stopped staying closed, which I guess is bad, and he was trying to rig it up with something to hold it shut and it shattered into a million pieces, which I guess is worse. Now we have a different one.”
Charlee: “Yeah not even we cats want to play with little pieces of broken glass.”
    Chaplin: “Angel Joanie! Cool hat!”
