Awww…Monday

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays .

Friday is posing with the book I am currently reading. Poet’s Square: A Memoir in Thirty Cats by Courtney Gustafson was by the front desk at the library and I just had to get it. I wasn’t even aware that this book was coming out. I had a feeling it would upset me because the author wrote about rescuing feral cats, but something made me just have to read it. In 2020, the author and her boyfriend rent a house together and discover there are 30 ferals hanging around. She starts feeding them and naming them as well as starting an Instagram account.

She eventually catches on and gets them all fixed. I haven’t finished the book yet so I can’t give any warnings about  tear jerkers, but so far, it hasn’t upset me. I think you would all enjoy it.

Rosie will be here tomorrow with all the latest including how Brody and Friday (or Dusty) do at the vet.

  1. Thirty ferals?? WOw, that makes me feel kind of sad in a way. Glad she was able to begin helping them all.

I hope Dusty’s eye will be soon all better, and I was glad to read that Trouble is feeling so much better.

  2. It sounds like quite the project to care for 30 wild cats. That’s awesome she managed to wrangle them all up so they could get fixed. This will help to decrease the population of unwanted kitties. I’m glad the story isn’t unsetting. Thanks for sharing and have a boogietastic week! xo

  3. I don’t like to read books where animals die although I did enjoy “Marley and Me.” He had a great life.

  4. The book sounds interesting, and taking care of 30 feral cats has to be challenging. Cute pic of Friday, and happy Monday!

  5. Friday is a cutie pie. That books sounds like a great read. Bless them for taking care of those kitties.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Ellen. Scritches to the kitties and a big hug to you. ♥

  9. I think it sounds like a good book and I hope it doesn’t upset you. It’s tough to take a chance on books about animals. Friday is doing a very good job posing with your book for today. Looking forward to Rosie’s news tomorrow… hoping all is well.

  10. I hope Dusty’s eye is okay, and I’m glad the other kitties are feeling better. That book sounds good, but I hesitate to read any animal books because there is usually something awful and sad in them. Hope all stays good with this one. 🙂

  12. That’s a lot of ferals. When we bought our house in West Virginia, we noticed a lot of ferals. We learned that a woman with around 15 cats died, and her son just threw the cats outside. After that, a few of the neighbors stepped up and took care of the cats. Since we were only there temporarily, we helped by buying cat food.

  13. Brava, this gutsy lady and her partner. Just like YOU TWO! Maybe not 30 but you have enough for us to be thankful for and all you do for them, and have done. MERCI.
