Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays .
Friday is posing with the book I am currently reading. Poet’s Square: A Memoir in Thirty Cats by Courtney Gustafson was by the front desk at the library and I just had to get it. I wasn’t even aware that this book was coming out. I had a feeling it would upset me because the author wrote about rescuing feral cats, but something made me just have to read it. In 2020, the author and her boyfriend rent a house together and discover there are 30 ferals hanging around. She starts feeding them and naming them as well as starting an Instagram account.
She eventually catches on and gets them all fixed. I haven’t finished the book yet so I can’t give any warnings about tear jerkers, but so far, it hasn’t upset me. I think you would all enjoy it.
Rosie will be here tomorrow with all the latest including how Brody and Friday (or Dusty) do at the vet.
Love the picture of Friday! That sounds like a really good book! XO
Thank you. Not as good as yours, but good. XO
Thirty ferals?? WOw, that makes me feel kind of sad in a way. Glad she was able to begin helping them all.
I hope Dusty’s eye will be soon all better, and I was glad to read that Trouble is feeling so much better.
Yes, sad to think there were so many in one spot, but glad she helped. XO
Lovely photo of Friday with the book. It sounds a very good read with hopefully nothing too sad in it.
Thank you. It is. XO
It sounds like quite the project to care for 30 wild cats. That’s awesome she managed to wrangle them all up so they could get fixed. This will help to decrease the population of unwanted kitties. I’m glad the story isn’t unsetting. Thanks for sharing and have a boogietastic week! xo
I wish more people would do that. XO
Sure don’t need a tear jerker…so…here’s hoping. xo
Exactly. XO
That sounds like a good book. Let us know if it is a tear-jerker.
I will let you know. XO
I don’t like to read books where animals die although I did enjoy “Marley and Me.” He had a great life.
Same here. XO
The book sounds interesting, and taking care of 30 feral cats has to be challenging. Cute pic of Friday, and happy Monday!
It is interesting. Friday thanks you. XO
Friday is a cutie pie. That books sounds like a great read. Bless them for taking care of those kitties.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Ellen. Scritches to the kitties and a big hug to you. ♥
Thank you. Yes, that is a lot to care for. XO

Charlee: “That’s a lot of cats!!!”
Chaplin: “Hey Friday, what’s up?”
It sure is. Friday is not happy- she needs a dental.
An amazing cat rescuer. I will have to see if my library has this.
I hope it does. 🙂 XO
Friday has already read this book; cats read everything!
They do. 🙂
Ellen great observation to see the book at the library check.
Tell Rosie will put on my super duper reading glasses waiting for her report
Hugs cecilia
Thank you. I will tell her. XO
I think it sounds like a good book and I hope it doesn’t upset you. It’s tough to take a chance on books about animals. Friday is doing a very good job posing with your book for today. Looking forward to Rosie’s news tomorrow… hoping all is well.
It is tough because I want to read about cats, but not be sad. XO
I hope Dusty’s eye is okay, and I’m glad the other kitties are feeling better. That book sounds good, but I hesitate to read any animal books because there is usually something awful and sad in them. Hope all stays good with this one. 🙂
Thank you. I hope so too. XO
It sounds like a great read and Friday is beautiful as always.
Thank you. XO
What a great photo of Friday and that sounds like quite the book! Makes me wish I could go to Instagram and see the 30 cats! Keep being AWESOME! Marvelous Marv and Mom Barb

She thanks you. It is a good book. XO
That’s a lot of ferals. When we bought our house in West Virginia, we noticed a lot of ferals. We learned that a woman with around 15 cats died, and her son just threw the cats outside. After that, a few of the neighbors stepped up and took care of the cats. Since we were only there temporarily, we helped by buying cat food.
That is so sad. Such an awful son.
Hey Friday!
She says hi back. 🙂
Brava, this gutsy lady and her partner. Just like YOU TWO! Maybe not 30 but you have enough for us to be thankful for and all you do for them, and have done. MERCI.
Thank you. 🙂 This lady has gone above and beyond. XO
Sounds like a good book! Cute photo.
Thank you. 🙂
That’s a lot of feral kitties. I hope there are no heartbreaking moments to come. ~hugs~ Bless you and yours, my dear.
Unfortunately, the rest of the book was mainly heartbreak. XO
