Did I fool you? That is my flat Phoebe, I am up here hiding from Mom. Do you think she will be fooled and put the ear medicine on flat Phoebe? Sure, it beats the pills, but it feels funny.
I am joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am thankful that I got to see Grammie on Monday and Thursday. I love her so very much!!!
And now for my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day,featuring the letter O. My poem is titled Old.
Old
My Mom is pretty bold
she said I was getting old.
Can she put her foot behind her head?
If she tried, she’d need a week in bed.
Can she climb to the top of my tree?
She would definitely hurt her knee.
She needs to be told
she is the one that is getting old.
We are also joining Wandering Through the Shelves Thursday Movie Picks Blog Hop this week’s theme is The Underdog.
- It’s a Wonderful Life (1946): Poor George Bailey can’t seem to catch a break, especially from that evil Mr. Potter.
- Bridget Jones’s Diary ( 2001): Poor Bridget is single, overweight and pestered by her Mum to get a boyfriend. Despite being far from perfect, she is very lovable.
- Love Potion #9 (1992): Sandra Bullock plays a geeky biologist who starts to get a lot of male attention when she discovers the power of Love Potion #9.
And we can’t forget the Friendly Fill-ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two.
1.In the Spring, I look forward to ______________________________

You almost had me fooled for a moment there, Phoebe!
🙂
I was fooled!
Mom wasn’t fooled. 🙁
Good luck fooling your Mom but Moms are pretty smart about stuff like that…..Teddy has ear medicine too and he HATES it but today is the last day he has to have the drops! We LOVE your “O” poem today too – I bet your Mom can’t put her leg behind her head OR climb your tree or the “O” would be for OUCH!
Love, Angel Sam
Mom wasn’t fooled. Poor Teddy, I am sure he wouldn’t like to get drops. Glad you like my poem, Mom didn’t. XO and love to you Angel Sammy
That is such a good idea Phoebe, to try to trick the Mom with the ear medicine. I bet that does feel funny. We like the ‘O’ poem. You all have a great day.
It didn’t work, Mom knew it wasn’t me. Glad you like my poem, Mom didn’t.
Flat Phoebe fooled us. Maybe she’ll fool your mom, too, real Phoebe! We don’t know what your mom thinks of it, Phoebe, but we love your poem. You should write a book of poetry. We’d buy it in a heartbeat. And I love the movies you picked. I haven’t seen Love Potion #9 in such a long time, I think I’ll find that somewhere and the furbabies and I will have us a movie night. And, as always, we can’t wait to fill in these fill-ins!
Mom wasn’t fooled- phooey! Glad you like our movie choices, we haven’t seen Love Potion #9 in at least 10 years we should watch it again.
OhMyGosh that is a perfect Flat Phoebe! I don’t think you can fool your Mom about a thing, Phoebe! Guess what Phoebe? We have a Phoebe bird that showed up yesterday… he comes back every year and I can hear him out there right now as I type and he is phoebe-ing his little head off… feebee, feebee, FEEbeeee! When I hear him, I think of you! Your O poem is very good, you know us girls do not like to be told we are getting old! Good Morning! FeeBeeeeeeeeeee!
How sweet of you to think of me. 🙂 We have one of those around sometimes too and I always wonder why it is calling me, I have never met her before. 🙂

I got fooled, too! ~grin~ Hey, is that ear medicine for hypo-thyroidism? We have experience with that here. Ugh.
Yes, it is for my hypothyroid, it is better than a pill. 🙂
Yes, you fooled me too pretty Phoebe! Did Mom like your poem? Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Thank you 🙂 Mom didn’t care for the poem, but I don’t care to be called old 🙂
We wanted to thank you for the kind words you left for Cousin Trooper. He was a super ManCat and we will miss him.

You totally fooled our mommy, but not us!
You’ll get used to it, sweetie! I don’t think it will work right on Flat Phoebe, cute as she is!
Thank you 🙂
Old is relative, and age doesn’t matter unless you allow it to!
Very true 🙂
I first looked at this on my phone, and you definitely had me fooled, flat Phoebe! 🙂
I wish my Mom was fooled too.
You need to stay hidden so Mom can send Flat Phoebe to the Stabby Place instead of you!
That would be nice.
I cannot lie. After reading hunnerts of blogs, I couldn’t tell the difference. I thought you had to pose with stuffies this week like I had to.
1.In the Spring, I look forward to baseball season! At least the peeps do.
2. I would love to have a #scifipawty party. Oops, we’re having one Caturday! Be there or be square.
3. Few know this about me, but I like to be kissed on the head.
4. No one can trim my nails—not even the vet.
Thank you for your answers, we enjoyed them. My Dad loves baseball too. Sammy will be at the sci-fi party. That is so sweet that you like to be kissed. You are a tough Jersey Girl so no one touches those claws 🙂
HAHA! That was hilarious. For a few seconds I was fooled by flat Phoebe. Too cute. And that poem was funny!
Thank you, glad you liked the poem. 🙂
Super picks for the three! Wonderful Life never crossed my mind but is a perfect fit. That poor schmo George Bailey is always up against it. Lovely film.
I can’t abide Zellweger but even with her dragging the film down Bridget Jones was still a sweet film.
Love Potion #9 isn’t that great of a film but it was cute enough and a good showcase for a just starting out Sandra Bullock.
I think you might be the first person who hasn’t used a sports film in their picks and I included one too, the genre lends itself to underdog stories. My other two involve competition of some kind where the underdog comes out on top in some way. My last pick is one of my all time faves.
Little Miss Sunshine (2006)-Young Olive (Abigail Breslin) has a dream shared by her grandfather (Alan Arkin). She wants to compete in the Little Miss Sunshine contest but that requires a road trip with her dysfunctional family, inventor dad Richard (Greg Kinnear), willfully mute brother Dwayne (Paul Dano), suicidal Uncle Frank (Steve Carell) and flustered mom Sheryl (Toni Collette). At first it looks doubtful but then they all pile into the van and go on a bumpy road to give Olive her chance despite the odds. Just quirky enough to be charming without wearing out its welcome thanks to a great cast all doing terrific work. Arkin won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar.
Miracle (2004)-The true story of Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell) the hockey coach who took the rough material that was the US hockey team and whipped them into Olympic gold medal winning shape. Wonderfully detailed with athletes rather than actors as the team mates, though they perform their lines well, and a powerfully convincing lead performance from Russell, one of his best. Despite the known outcome the film is quite involving and the end exciting.
October Sky (1999)-Homer Hickam (Jake Gyllenhaal) is just another backwoods teen in a slowly dying coal town in the 50’s until he witnesses Sputnik flying by one night. Filled with the wonder of space and encouraged by his young teacher Miss Riley (Laura Dern) he convinces his friends O’Dell & Roy Lee to work with him to try and build rockets. Enlisting the school outcast and brain Quentin they plunge in against many obstacles, including the stubborn resistance of Homer’s good but pigheaded father (Chris Cooper). Meeting with some success they determine to enter the national science competition in pursuit of college scholarships. A great film with tremendous performances full of determination to succeed against seemingly insurmountable odds and all around American can-doism with one of the most beautifully evocative and fitting scores ever.
Little Miss Sunshine was a great choice. That was a good movie, so sad when her Grandpa passed away on the road trip. I need to look for October Sky on Netflix, that sounds like a good one. I didn’t put any sport movies because I haven’t seen many of those. 🙂
LOL what a good flat-phoebe! I’m sorry it didn’t fool your mama and you had to have meds.
Thank you 🙂 No fooling Mom.
Oh love the pussy cat who is trying to hide and the poem is cute…and true when I think about me:) love that you picked It’s a Wonderful Life. I chose my favourite film before so I was so hoping it would be chosen and here it is! I liked Bridget Jone’s Diary and found it sweet even though I am not a huge fan of Renee. I haven’t seen Love Potion #9 and it sounds cute.
Thank you. I just watched the latest Bridget Jones and was very disappointed in Renee Zelwegger, I liked her in the first 2 though. Glad I picked one of your favorites.
Mom’s too clever! Anyone else would’ve fallen for this trick.
Hope you’re feeling better Phoebe!
Thank you 🙂 Yes, the transdermal thyroid meds are working.
Yep, you DID fool me with your flat Phoebe! But I bet you didn’t fool your mom.
You are right, no fooling Mom.
We were almost fooled, MOL!!!
Cute poem…petcretary is getting some issues of antiquity too, MOL!
MOL! 🙂 Mom wasn’t fooled.
