Nosey Rosie’s Gabfest

Hi everyone! Boy! do I have dirt for you this week.

First, mom said I was supposed to talk like a pirate so Ahoy mates!

This is a photo from 2021 so no need to dress like a pirate again.

Now on to all the news- Penelope had a near death experience. She was inside of a box and Rusty got on top and it fell in on her. He wouldn’t move so she had a tough time crawling out. And boy did she give him a whappy paw when she got out.

Mom spends a lot of time with Dusty. She doesn’t like mom to talk much though. When she gets sick of her talking, she puts one paw over mom’s lips to shut her up- and she holds it there. She even did that when mom was on the phone with Grammie.

And now the real dirt. Mom and Dad did ancestry dna tests back in 2020. Mom finally decided to go through her list of matches and mark off paternal or maternal and their relationship. Well, she got to her aunt (her dad’s sister) and aunt wasn’t a choice, not enough shared dna. Grand aunt or half aunt are listed as choices and her cousin (aunt’s daughter) is listed as half cousin which means they only share one grandparent, not two. So, mom is very confused. She never met her dad’s dad, he died when her dad was 16, but was he her dad’s dad? Or was it the milk man or something? She is hoping her other living aunt will do the dna test to get more information.

Well, that is all for this week. Stop by tomorrow to see who makes the best pirate- Rusty or Rudy.

  1. Ha! That’s funny about Dusty! Glad Penelope is okay! We have a bunch of young, rambunctious “barbarians” as the hubs calls them, so when the zooming starts, I’m always a little anxious that there might be mishaps. The pirate hat is cute, but yikes! I’ve forgotten all my pirate talk, I’m not ready! XO

  2. WOW, we want to know more about this dna testing…uh…I think we do. What if I am related to The LION KING or something???? WOW. Great gossip today, Rosie, just a wonderful way to start the day, laughing our pirate hats off!

  3. Aww, poor Penelope. Hope she’s not too traumatized, though I’d say that her whappy paw answers that! Dad was one of eight growing up, and he says he was often the Rusty of the bunch, torturing a few of his sibs and punishing them if they tattle-taled on him.

  4. Dearest Ellen,
Love the pirate picture of Rosie with her Dad.
Had only one kitty, Angel Sacha girl, who put her paw over my mouth. Very funny!
Understandable that Penelope gave Rusty a whappy paw after he sat on her inside the box.
As for DNA it can cause lots of puzzles and often the people are gone for asking questions…
    Good luck!
    Hugs,
    Mariette + Kitties

  5. Poor Penelope and I hope she’s okay. Dusty sure has a way of getting Mom not to talk! The DNA testing is fascinating and I hope Mom can find out more. Thanks for the juicy gossip, Rosie.

  6. Tell your Mom that she might try Ancestry.com. That way there will be no question at all. We’ve used it and it is very thorough and so far there have not been any errors. And Penelope…bless your heart. I’m glad you gave him the whappy paw! He deserved it. I LOVE how you silence your mom. Works on MY mom too. But..she starts giving the paw smooches….sigh!

  7. DNA testing sometimes brings out secrets. Sometimes scandals! I found out my great grandma died from typhoid fever 6 months after my grandmother was born. She was only 22. Now I wonder who raised my grandmother.

  8. Penelope, good job at giving Rusty a whap!
Dusty does what CB wishes he could, when he’s being a lapcat and I’m talking.
Our mother’s grandparents weren’t biological, as they adopted my grandmother during the Flu Epidemic in the 1920’s.

  9. Cutest pirate ever, Rosie! My last kitty, Z, she did the paw thing on my mouth or put her mouth on my lips if she thought I was talking too loud. She didn’t like for me to raise my voice. Thanks the heavens Penelope was able to push and squeeze Rusty outa-da-way. I know about how your Mom feels about the confusion. I found out after my Mom passed away that she had been married before so I was thinking was my Dad my Dad or what… thank you so much to my Aunt for bringing all that up… not. There aren’t a lot of baby pictures of me. So, after 37 years I decided to let that mystery go! Rosie, this was a good gabfest today!

  10. I’m glad that Penelope was okay. I get the whappy paw though. Good for her.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to all the kitties and a hug to your mom. ♥

  12. DNA tests can sure turn up some surprises. We know someone who found a half sister she didn’t even know about!

I can imagine Penelope was whapping mad when she finally got out of the box, I might be, too.

That’s funny about Dusty, she must be a very quiet kitty.

    Thanks for all the updates!

  13. Cute photo with your Dad. You make a great pirate. Poor Penelope. No wonder she was mad. Interesting DNA results. I hope your Mom gets some answers.

  14. Dusty the Mute button – good one. But she shouldn’t be so rude when Mom is so good to her. Poor Penelope, she must have been so scared. We hope Mom figures out all the ancestry stuff – it sounds like quite the puzzler.

    Woos – Misty and Timber

  15. Oh, Rosie, that was some real good gossips, some scary, but with a good ending, thank cat! Peachy sometimes does that too, but only for a kiss on his paw, mostly he puts his paw on Granny’s cheek😹Good Luck with solving the mysterie, Ellen. Extra Pawkisses for you all🐾😽💞

  16. Java Bean: “Ahoy, Rosie!”
Charlee: “Our Dada says maybe Dusty is a Conehead and that’s her way of saying ‘Maintain low tones!’ We have no idea what he’s talking about, as usual.”
Chaplin: “That’s an interesting mystery about the ancestry! When our Dada did his, it turned up a mysterious cousin nobody knew about from a town down the road from where he grew up. I think somebody attempted to contact the cousin but was unsuccessful, so a mystery it shall remain …”
