Happy Mancat Monday everyone! Today is fun and games day so I decided to make a toy for the kitties.I know kickers are very popular and my kitties didn’t have one. I also know that kitties love that crinkle sound and catnip too. Sammy, one of my mancats will model it at the end of the post.

I bought a yard of fabric that was on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $3/yard. It is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day so I don’t know why it was on clearance. 003004Joanie is making sure I have all the supplies

I folded the fabric in half with the print side inside, then I added some batting and cut a strip. I used the sewing machine to sew the edges and left a small space at the end so I could turn it inside out.I stuffed it with plastic bags ( great way to recycle- Walmart ones crinkle best). I added some catnip and hand stitched the opening.

Here is Sammy enjoying it: 006009He is a big boy so it was the right size. I think I will make the next ones shorter for the other kitties.Sammy is hoping he can earn his Cat Scout badge in bunny kicking with these photos.

  2. Wow, what a fun toy! I wish my human were that crafty and creative – she can do stuff in Photoshop and InDesign, but you can make cat toys on the computer!

  8. What a good idea and great way to recycle plastic bags. I’ve made stuffed toys to sell at the PAWS shelter, but we bought cotton batting to stuff them. I’m going to try this, thanks!

  16. That is a great kicker and Sammy is having a lovely time with it. I have some material so must make one for Flynn. That’s a great idea about using plastic bags in it.

  17. Looks like fun. I don’t do kickers and the peeps don’t know why. We don’t shop in Walmart because they’re not nice to their employees but Mandee bags are fun and crinkly too. xoxo

    1. I agree that Walmart doesn’t treat their workers well. I don’t buy much in their, but with 15 cats, I need their litter. I also get a few other things in there out of desperation. They are 1 mile away and everything else is about 20 miles away.

  22. Looks like badge wiinnin’ fotos to us Sammy P. and how clever awe you Miss Ellen. Dat be a pawsum kicker. Maybe dat be da purrawllem we won a kicker and never play wiff it. Mommy just figgered is cuz there be no nip in it. but maybe it’s too short fur us big ole girleys. MOL
