Monday

Hi everyone! I won’t say happy Monday because there has been too much death and sickness in the blogging world. The only good thing is how supportive the group is of one anot. I am happy to be in contact with each and every one of you fine people ( and kitties).

Today is fun and games day and I saw a great catification project in the All You, January 16, 2015 edition. It is a simple box with a hammock in it made from a fleece blanket. I couldn’t make one though because the hubby is hoarding boxes. Every year he has a massive brush fire in January and he needs the cardboard to start the fire. This is last year’s fire: 001

As soon as I do get a big, sturdyย box, I will make it. Actually, I should ask at Macy’s, the last time I asked for one, they gave it to me. The only catch is, it needs to be folded when you leave the store so you have to tape it back together. I guess they are afraid people would steal if it was assembled.

My mom gave me a lot of great gifts for Christmas, but the one I could do without is a cold. I was doing so well avoiding it, I guess we shouldn’t have split that caramel latte on Saturday ๐Ÿ™

Have a great day everyone and please keep purring and praying for our sick friends.

  1. Ohhh…..a box with a hammock inside? You’ll have to share that with us when you do it! Love the idea of an annual “burn the brush fire”……..too bad boxes (which we SOOOOOOOOO love) have to be sacrificed in the process!!!! HAHA

    Hugs, sammy

  3. Too bad you don’t live nearby — our garage is still full of boxes from moving! Looking forward to seeing your project. Purring for all our sick and OTRB friends and their families. Some of my non-blogging Facebook friends also lost kitties the last few days. So sad at what should be a happy time.

  4. I want to see this hammock in a box too! I can’t believe you can set a fire that big in your neighborhood – out here, we are in a fire danger zone, and the humans would probably get arrested.

We’ve been purring overtime for all our pals over here.

    1. We are far enough from the other house you see in the background. Out here you can burn from the second week in January until May. My husband likes to wait til there is some snow though to be safe from it spreading.

  5. That sounds like a fun project! I can’t wait to see it ๐Ÿ™‚ It is a win-win because even if something doesn’t turn out quite right – you still have a box! You can never go wrong with a box when it comes to cats. I hope you feel better soon. Colds are no fun at all.

  6. Burning brush is legal where you live? I donโ€™t think it would be legal here although one neighbor worries us as they have a big pile of twigs in their yard. Looks like you guys got some cool presents and the box hammick would be the icing on the cake, so it speak.

    1. Yes, it is legal from January to May with a permit. You also need to call the morning you want to burn and get permission just in case it is too dry. I think the kitties would like the hammock-they are spoiled.

  7. I’ve never had a hammock, but I know boxes are wonderful. You could also ask at a local appliance store for a box. Sometimes they have super sturdy ones that they don’t need anymore. I’ll be interested to see your hammock in a box creation.

    1. Yes, it is. Every year my hubby gathers enough branches for one that big. He saves the ash for the garden.

  8. Am still moving my office, and I’ve got boxes galore! If you were nearby, I’d drive ’em over! Don’t think you are in Michigan, tho’…Happy New Year!

    1. NO, I am a long way from Michigan- thanks for the thought though. You could make a hammock box for your own kitties though.
