Thankful Thursday

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

I am thankful that Brody is a lap cat. He prefers my hubby, but he does pay me a visit a couple times a day.

I skipped the poem this week as I have been busy preparing for our Christmas open house this Sunday.  In addition to cleaning and decorating we bottled wine and made horseradish. I am a teetotaler, but my hubby likes to make wine and most people seem to like it. This year it is Ruby Cabernet.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

  1. LOVE Brody the lap-kitty. Hey, a couple of times a day is a lot! I was a lap kitty and then preferred my couch as I aged. But maybe I’ll try again to perch on the knees when we watch TV. Open house? Wow. Wish we were there.

    1. Thank you. 🙂 He came a long way from semi-feral. I wish you could come to the open house. XO

  2. Hope your party is a big success – I know it will be – you make lots of delish food and I’m sure it will be a fun time for everyone. We know your hubby makes GREAT wine (tee hee)……….Brody is so adorable I’m really happy he’s a lap cat.

    Hugs, Pam

  3. 1. Someone special’s gift to me and the “smart remark” they made watching me fumble with it over and over till I got the hang of it, made me laugh to tears came. Best laugh in years.

  4. How interesting that you make wine. How long does it take? Do you squish the grapes with your feet like I LOVE LUCY?

    1. We used to make it with our grapes ( concords) so we had to put them through a crusher ( no feet 🙂 ) This time my hubby bought the juice from a local store that sells wine supplies. You add yeast to that and in a few days you put it in a 5 gallon carboy and leave it for almost a year then you bottle it. Bottling is a big project too becaue you need to sterilize the bottles. I Love Lucy too. XO

  5. My comment said service unavailable. Bugger.

I love lap cats. I’ve had many and love them all.

Take some pictures of your open house and pass me a glass of wine.

I’m all ready for the Friendly Fill-ins.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. xoxo ♥

    1. Good- I am sure your mum loves that. I wish you lived near us so your mum could come to the open house. XO

  7. Lap cats are wonderful !

Be careful if you are bottling wine & horseradish at the same time ! A mix up could be drastic !

    1. Most of the cats like my hubby’s lap, only Brody likes mine too and Sammy likes to be by my side.XO

  8. Oh my whiskers, your mom has been busy! Our human has been a bit of a grinch this year but we still love her and do spend some quality time in her lap.

  9. We made dandelion wine this spring (based on an old family recipe) and it turned out good. I would like to try rhubarb wine sometime (another family recipe).

    1. My hubby has not tried either of those, but he has done pear, strawberry, blueberry, pumpkin and ground cherry. XO

  10. Oh My Goodness, Brody sure knows what he wants when he wants it. Dad says I prefer his lap, and mom says I prefer hers. I just let them fight it out.
