It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays and Book Date’s It’s Monday What are YOU Reading?

I have had a lot of time to read lately so I thought I would share some good titles with you. The A-Z Blogging Challenge is coming up and I have decided to do cat theme books again ( I did them in 2016) .

When Life Gives You Pears: The Healing Power of Family, Faith, and Funny People

by Jeannie Gaffigan was really good. I had heard of her husband, comedian Jim Gaffigan, but had never seen anything with him. The pear she is referring to in the title was a pear shaped brain tumor she had removed in 2017. The book is about her amazing extended  family and how they banded together to get her, Jim and the children through this ordeal. It is written with a nice amount of humor.

I just finished Hold On, But Don’t Hold Still by Kristina Kuzmic. I had never heard of her, but I love memoirs so I gave it a chance and now I wish I could be her friend. Her claim to fame is making videos and showing her flawed self to other moms so they don’t feel so bad. I am not a mom, but I found her honesty refreshing plus she is really funny.  This is a good read for anyone who has ever hit rock bottom.

  1. Sammy is ALWAYS awwwwworthy! This is a great time for those who haven’t given themselves time to read to pick up a book and let it take them away to another time and place and relax.

    Hugs, Pam

  2. Sammy is always worth a big Awww!
I have the feeling there will be a lot more book reading in the near future. The government is expected to announce that all over 70s and those with health problems self isolate by the weekend. The suggested time is 4 months to protect us, but I think we will go stir crazy by then!

  3. Jim Gaffigan is my favorite comedian these days. I just finished “The British are Coming” by Rick Atkinson and now I am reading “The Body: A Guide for Occupants” by Bill Bryson.

  4. Both of those books sound interesting and inspiring! I have a memoir I want to read..maybe will read that after finishing the book I’m on now 🙂

  5. I can’t recall ever reading a memoir. The ones you read sound good. Come see my week here. Keep well and happy reading!

  6. I’ve been reading Laurie R. King’s series on Mary Russell & Sherlock Holmes, and I ADORE it! Also just started the Juliet Blackwell’s Haunted Renovation series; it’s good!

  7. Sammy is most awww worthy. All your kitties are.

I’m reading a J.D. Robb book right now, but it’s downstairs and I’ve not a clue the name of it. It’s good though.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

  9. Ellen,

Thanks for stopping by this morning to boogie with me on the 4M dance floor and to check out my A2Z theme. I will look forward to your book reviews next month as we embark on another year of A2Zing! Be healthy and well, my friend! xx

  10. These days the more books available to read, the better. Your recommendations sound very interesting. Mom is currently reading The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. It is not the type of book she usually reads and she almost gave up on it. But the more she reads, the more intriguing it becomges.

    Hope you are doing well.

  11. I admire the type of books you read. I mostly read novels, I prefer to escape from reality when I read! I’m currently reading a novel I got for free from amazon prime – my favorite benefit from them (well, other than free shipping – LOL).

  12. Sammy, you are a purrfect book model! And these books sound not only inspiring, but also with a good sense of humor, and I think that’s a wonderful combo. Happy reading!

  13. I was in the middle of a women’s bible study on Hebrews that has become an online video study for the duration. I also downloaded an ebook from the library titled The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton. And with the number of books I have in my home library that I can re-read, I’ll probably be good until September! xoxo
