I have been reading two very interesting books that I want to tell you about. The always awww…worthy Joanie is posing with them.
The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery has me obsessed with wanting to see a live octopus. I am planning to go to The Mystic Aquarium this summer with my niece and her daughters. The author wanted to befriend an octopus so she starts going to The Boston Aquarium and gets to put her arm on the water so the octopus can get to know her.
I had no idea how smart they are and that they are escape artists. I also didn’t realize what short lives the have ( 3-4 years at most). They are also playful. I highly recommend this book , it was published in 2015.
I also got really pulled into Walking Through Walls by Philip Smith ( published in 2008). The author grew up during the 60’s when his father , a popular Miami designer , got a calling to be a healer. He tells stories of all the healings his father did and how he spoke with the dead. I always want to believe our loved ones are right there and we just have to know how to contact them so this fascinated me. Although, I take it with a grain of salt because I can’t even find Lew Smith ( the author’s father) on Wickipedia. Either way, it is an interesting book.
Penny will be here tomorrow to tell you about another book that she finds fascinating.
- I must confess, I even researching getting a pet octopus, but they need at least a 50 gallon tank which I can’t imagine getting.
