Sunday Selfies

We are joining The Cat on My Head’s Sunday Selfie Blog Hop.

Only one selfie today, actually an ussie.  Poor Sammy has to be coned again because he pulled out his tummy furs and chews on his skin. I really wish the vet would reopen.  They were both trying to help me make a tie blanket for Penny’s Valentine’s Day giveaway.

And we have a puzzle too-

  1. I was going to suggest an elizabethan collar that another blogger got for her cat and it inspired me to buy one JUST in case Katie might need one. The depth of the cones need to be determined by where the cat might be wanting to groom. Tummy furs are a hard one to help. I’ll send you a picture later.

  2. Hey dear ones!!
Sammy I have the itches this time of year too… so I send sympathies.
Thus far no cone for me but who knows if it keep scratching I might have to borrow a lampshade

  3. Oh Sammy, we’re sending purrs and pawsitives your way for your tummy. Cute selfie all, I’m sure your Mom appreciates all your help with that blanket – MOL!

  4. Oh Sammy! Do you think it is dry skin? Jo Jo is having that problem right now, Mom has got out the humidifier to see if that will help, otherwise she too will be wearing the cone! You and Emmy look like you are great helpers! May you and yours today be filled with fun!

  5. Oh Sammy I am so sorry to hear that. I was doing that last year due to stress from Einstein being an *ss. I took some steroids a few times to handle it and after I learned to hiss and whap (Thanks Miss Fitz) I am now not doing that. I still hiss and whap that bugger. Get well soon Sammy. PS have you ever tried the inflatable collars?

  6. Poor, Sammy. Sending him lots of POTP. WHAT A SUPER CUTE BLANKET. THIS DEFINITELY SEEMS TO BE THE DAY FOR USSIES. THANKS FOR HOPPING WITH US, XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer & Kizmet

  7. Maybe Sammy would prefer to wear a lil’ recovery shirt instead? Mom put one on my sisfur Esmay so she wouldn’t chew on her tummy stitches. She wore it for a week. Mom said it “worked like a charm”. Purr purr purr.

  8. So sorry about Sammy. Our Holly Cat that Jerry and I adopted when we were first married did something similar. She didn’t pull out hair but excessively licked a place on her tummy until the fur was gone and caused it to bleed. It turned out to be a grass allergy and I gave her shots from the vet, Can’t remember what it was now but it did clear up. Different than what Sammy’s issue is. Always makes us and the cat unhappy with a cone. I hope Sammy can get some help with his stress issue.

  9. You’ve been put in the cone of shame, Sammy? Hopefully you get to feeling better soon. Evan started doing a similar thing a year or two ago, and he made himself go bald on his side. His vet prescribed him amitriptyline, and ever since he started on that his obsessive licking and chewing have resolved. And I can’t believe your vet is completely closed. Our vet is still doing curbside, but they have not closed even once during this pandemic. I am so grateful for that. I just yesterday took Evan to the vet. The poor boy’s urinary incontinence is running wild these days, and I had to get him shaved back there because his fur was becoming impossible to keep dry and he was essentially getting diaper rash. I’ll from now on be taking him ever 6 to 8 weeks to be shaved back there, because it’s only when he’s shaved that I can keep him clean and dry with his incontinence. I love our vet. They are so nice and helpful, and they are so great with even extra special and extra messy cases like Evan. He has a nervous bladder and always urinates multiple times when they’re working on him, and they’re still always happy to see him and help him. Whew. I sure rambled there, didn’t I? Sending lots of purrs and prayers to Sammy! And I really, really hope your vet opens back up soon.

    1. Poor Evan. I am glad you got to take him to the vet. I think I need a new vet. Thank you for the purrs and prayers for Sammy, we will do the same for Evan. XO
