Hi everyone, I am proud to announce that I am now a Modern Cat affiliate 🙂 I will be adding a link to the side of the homepage as soon as I figure out how to do that. Today is “Every Cat has a Story” day and being that Snowball’s gotcha day is this week ( Tuesday the 22nd), I will tell you what I know of her story.
I first spotted Snowball in April 2012 when I went to a NJ shelter to get KaTwo ( I’ll tell you her story another day). I noticed her because I have a cat named Polar Bear and everyone calls him Snowball. She was a pretty little kitty that looked very sad sitting in her cage. I kept checking the Petfinder page to see if Snowball had been adopted and I was also in touch with one of the volunteers through email.
The beginning of 2013 was awful for my family. My hubby had shoulder surgery ( my fault as he fell moving a kiln for me 🙁 ) , my mom almost died and also had surgery at the same time. And while all that was happening, our beloved Barney passed away after a brief illness. When by birthday month came along my mom and hubby were doing well ( thank God and everyone who prayed for their recoveries) so I decided to make something good happen out of the year and save a kitty. And that kitty was Snowball, had come from a hoarding situation: http://www.hudsonreporter.com/view/full_story/15974906/article-House-of-cats-Town-charges-woman-and-sons-with-animal-cruelty-?instance=search_results . She was at the shelter for almost 2 years and believed to be about 2 when she arrived.
Snowball adjusted well with our other cats, but was extremely fearful of us. I nicknamed her Whitey Bulger because she was always in hiding. It took several months, but she allows us to pet her and even seeks it out.I knew she was happy when she started purring after 3 months. I have been working on a children’s book about how she learned to purr.
Sorry that was a little longer than usual, but Snowball’s story is a long one with a happy ending.Today is the last day to comment to enter the contest to win books.
