Phoebe’s Traveling Shades Are Home

When Phoebe sent out her traveling shades in 2016, I had no idea she would no longer be with me when they returned. It was a bittersweet day when they arrived in the mail this week. I want to thank all 19 families that participated. Sadly, several of these families have also lost kitties during this time. I hope they are all playing with Phoebe while waiting for us.

Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! We are joining Ten Things of Thankful and Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hops.

Today is Rubber Duckie Day so our art was made at Facein the Hole-

Sammy with rubber duckies

Here are my 10 thankfuls:

  1. Thankful I have room in the attic to store the Christmas tree still standing ( I did remove the ornaments.
  2. free magazines from the library!

every January the town library gives away magazines. I scored some Writing ones, House Beautiful, HGTV, Prevention and some cooking ones too. It looks like I cleaned them out, but there were two tables filled with the, so I barely made a dent.

3. Warmer weather, from negative temps last week to 50’s this week.

4. Hubby was able to take our spiral Christmas trees out of the ground, I really thought they were going to be there until April.

5. Emmy was a meme on Savannah’s blog-click here.

6. Thankful that Angel Phoebe’s Purrince is currently stable, he has IBD.

7.Thankful that Emmy doesn’t need heart meds and her heart is not enlarged.

8. Also thankful that Emmy’s thyorid is fine, I already have 4 cats on thyroid meds.

9. For our ginger girl , Prancie ( yesterday was Kiss a Ginger Day so we gave her lots of kisses).

10. Joanie wants to do the last one-

I iz thankful that Gremmie uses the potty now.

Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful. Our art today is a card wishing the kitties’ Dad a Happy Birthday!

And now for our thankfuls:

  1. My wonderful husband whose birthday is today.
  2. My hubby that makes me tea at night and even warms the cup with hot water so it will stay extra hot.
  3. My hubby who plows ( very handy this week with 10 inches of snow).
  4. My hubby who makes sure the generator is working before a storm ( and was wise enough to get one to begin with).
  5. My hubby that the cats all flock too, I get annoyed that they all take turns on his lap. Joanie is my only lap cat with a brief visit from Brody or Emmy once in a while.
  6. My hubby who can fix a leaky faucet without calling a plumber.
  7. My hubby who can hang a framed picture or anything and make it perfectly level.
  8. My hubby who is a great cook.
  9. My hubby who is glad I am so close with my mom.
  10. My hubby who loves me even though I am a little crazy with all my quirks and superstitions.

I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband to share my life with.

Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful.

My art today is from Toby’s mom , Sabina. She made me these two beautiful pieces for Christmas and I am very thankful.

The first is a memory box that I am planning to put Phoebe’s bikini and Crotchety Cougar hat in for safe keeping.

She also made me this beautiful book with photos of my angel kitties. I can’t even imagine how long it took to make this. I love it!

Those were my first two thankfuls. And here are the rest:

3. Our open house was a lot of fun and we ended up with 21 guests.

4. I got to spend time with my mom, niece and great-niece this week. Usually, my niece is at work, but she had the week off this week.

5. A warm house and thermal underwear- it has been below zero some days this week and will continue to be that cold for at least another week.

6. I haven’t caught the bad cold my mom has had for weeks  ( I hope she feels better soon).

7. Everyone seemed genuinely pleased with the gifts I got for them this year.

8. Thankful that I do not have to deal with traffic jams often. We went to meet my hubby’s sister for lunch the other day and the turnpike was so backed up. My hubby was more upset than I was, but I reminded him that some people have to deal with traffic every day. This was only the third time in over 25 years I can recall being in traffic with him.

9.Bargains- I scored a huge container of Temptations for $2.48 at Target because it was holiday themed. I got some cheap cards and wrapping paper at other stores too.

10. Emmy- she cracks us up with her hoarding. Every night, she adds to her collection- last night she swiped a stuffed elf off a shelf on the entertainment center.

Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful.

This week, some of my thankfuls will be Christmas decorations. My first one will also count for my art this week. It is not my work, but my friend’s who is an amazing graphic designer ( and designed my logo and blog header). If you need any graphics done, click here.

  1.  Isn’t this a cute snowman and kitty?
  2. My friend, Heather who passed away at age 46 ( 12 years ago) gave me these snowmen so they are very special.
  3. A wreath with a kitty that looks like Millie.
  4. The hubby’s Star Trek tree which is now more of a Scifi tree complete with Dr. Who ornaments and a Lost in Space robot. The Spock ears were my idea 🙂
  5. My nip knots came out nice, I made 24 to give out to people who come to my house for their cats. I got the instructions from Summer’s blog. Click here
  6. Thankful that my Sammy got through his dental, I always worry when anyone is under anesthesia. Sammy got a nip knot from the tooth fairy.
  7. I am done shopping, but I am going  today with my mom and niece for fun.
  8. When I told my 2 yr old great-niece we were going shopping and she was going to stay home with Daddy, she said “want to go shopping with the ladies.”  I thought that was so adorable, already a shopaholic 🙂  ( She has an ear infection or she would be going).
  9. Librarian set aside a book about cats for me this week that I had not heard of before. It is nice to be known around town as a cat lover 🙂
  10. One of my friends came over to visit last Sunday. She had just finished shoveling and was going to make coffee, but came to me because she knew I would have coffee ready. I always have coffee available from 7AM to 10 PM.

The Twelve Cats of Christmas

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful.

Our art today is our Christmas card with all 12 of the kitties. Please feel free to take the card. I plan to email it and also mail them to those that signed up for the exchange. If you need cards, I highly recommend groupon. I got mine made at Staples for only $8 for a set of 25 purchased through groupon. ( I am not being compensated, I just like to share bargains).

Here are my thankfuls-

  1. Thankful to live in an area where we get a lot of snow and cold weather- even though the snow is messing up my plans to go to Emily Dickinson’s birthday party at her museum.
  2. Emmy continues to sit on my lap, when Joanie isn’t hogging it.
  3. For my ornament/decoration collection that I have acquired over my lifetime ( I will be showing some next Saturday).
  4. Coffee with a friend.
  5. Shopping with my mom.
  6. A hubby that puts the outside lights on the house and in the yard.
  7. Being able to give my great-niece a cookie and then getting to leave- I must admit I thought it was funny to see her jumping up and down on the couch ( a sugar high) when I was leaving.
  8. Groupon ( see above).
  9. A package from a dear friend that arrived this week.
  10. Coffee- the best beverage 🙂

Be sure to come back tomorrow for Prancie’s Grumpy Giveaway!

Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Catruday Art Blog Hop. I started taking photos for our Christmas card yesterday and this is one of our bloopers. I used Lunapic to add a snowflake border.

I am also joining the Ten Things of Thankful Blog Hop.

  1. Sammy’s negative heartworm antigen test.
  2. Good kitties that let me dress them for photos.
  3. Only getting one scratch from KaTwo while taking photos for the Christmas card.
  4. A husband that brings me coffee in the morning and makes me tea at night.
  5. My hubby and I got to have lunch with his sister this week.
  6. Lunch with my mom and the great one.
  7. Blueberry pancakes at my favorite diner with my mom.
  8. Almost done Christmas shopping.
  9. Parchment paper, before I discovered it, I always burned my cookies.
  10. I won Jackson Galaxy’s new book from Caren and Cody’s blog. I will review it soon.

Clearly I did a lot of eating this week ( #’s 5-7), but it was more about the people than the food.

Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop, Tonk’s Tail #PMT photohunt and Ten Things of Thankful .

Before we get started though, the winner of the cat mug ( and crocheted cat toys) is Cat Scout Charles. Congratulations! Prancie will announce the winner of the Black Cats Tell All book on Sunday. You have until 9PM EST to enter.

The word prompt this week is family. I guess Emmy has decided she likes her family.

I used ribbet to add a frame to the photo so that is my art.

Here are my thankfuls-

  1. Leftovers- I sent my mom home with a lot and we have enough for days too.
  2. turkey soup
  3. turkey salad with cranberries, pecans and mayo
  4. A nice, relaxing Thanksgiving. My mom and I even worked on a puzzle as we planned our shopping strategy for Black Friday.
  5. Surviving Black Friday- most stores had enough workers so there were hardly any lines and everything we went for was still available.
  6. The “great one”  is going to be a big sister.
  7. Prancie’s blood work was good , her thyroid is in normal range, she gained a pound and her heart sounded good.
  8. Sammy’s blood work was good too-except for his thyroid, but that is treatable with a pill.
  9. Christmas music on my favorite radio station. The alarm goes off to the radio so it is nice to hear the Christmas music.
  10. Going shopping on Black Friday with my mom. I know some are against going because of the crowds and frenzy, but it is something we always do and I am thankful we were healthy enough to go ( and I pray we will be for many years to come).

Selfie Sunday and Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone!   I am enjoying my heated blanket here.

Mom is going to cut into my post to do her Ten Things of Thankful. Before that though, I want to tell you about my special week of Thanksgiving giveaways. We are so thankful to all of you for your friendship that we are going to have giveaways three days in a row so be sure to come back tomorrow.

Here are mom’s thankfuls:

  3. Pedicure with my mom.
  4. Chinese food after pedicure.
  5. Shopping trip with my mom.
  6. A bargain on a cat bed at the store 5Below, $5
  7. Emmy continues to sit on me and even spends part of the night on the bed.
  8. A spare bed to retreat to when hubby snores too loud, I used to wear earplugs, but they are uncomfortable.
  9. Finally had time to do some crocheting so I made 15 toys to donate to be sold for the local shelter.
  10. Brussels sprouts fresh from the garden, even tastier after the frost and the best part is the hubby cleans them off and cooks them for me.

We are joining The Cat on My Head’s Sunday Selfie Blog Hop. Be sure to stop by tomorrow for our first giveaway.

Veteran’s Day

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful. I am reusing my art from 2015. Lucy was posing with my father’s Air Force photo and his flag.

Here are my thankfuls:

  1. I am thankful to all who served and are currently serving. I have the utmost respect for anyone who is willing to give their life for people they have never met.
  2. For scoring a 21 pound turkey for $1.32. The grocery store in the next town had them for 39cents a pound and they accept the $7 off coupon from their competitor.
  3. Hubby and I got to finally go to his favorite restaurant for a long overdue birthday dinner ( his birthday is in January, but he had a blood clot and then Phoebe was sick, etc.).
  4. One of our friends that lives in the same town as the restaurant met us there for dinner, it was nice to catch up.
  5. Coffee with a different friend on Friday.
  6. Lots of leftover cake from the great one’s birthday party.
  7. Emmy finally sat on my lap and has done it more than once.

8. Going shopping today with my mom, niece and the great one.

9. The great one already loves books, she opened some at her party last week and sat right down to look at them instead of moving on to the next gift.

10. Lots of great books that I am currently reading.
