Hi everyone ! I thought I would do a Mancat Monday with a Brody update.
A lot of times, he can be spotted peaking from the top of the steps.
He basically lives in the upstairs bathroom which is quite small. I open the door every morning and close it before bed. Throughout the day, he will venture down and try to befriend the others only to be met with hisses. Last week, my hubby claims that Brody attacked his princess, Prancie. He squirted him with the spray bottle and he came right back after her. I honestly think he was attempting to play. Unfortunately, now the hubby doesn’t like him. Spooky had hissed at him about 2 weeks before he left us. My hubby is taking Spooky’s passing very hard and I think he feels like he would be betraying Spooky to make friends with Brody. I mentioned that and he said he just doesn’t like that cat.( No worries, Brody is here to stay so they will have to coexist).
Brody and Millie visit each other through the screen door a lot. I am afraid to let them be together though because Millie likes to attack and I don’t want him to teach bad things to Brody.
Brody is braver with me and will eat in front of me. For several weeks, he wouldn’t even look at the food if I was there. When he is downstairs though, he runs the minute I move at all. I am wondering if I should just keep being patient and hoping things will work out or if I should crate him ( I have a large crate with plenty of room for a litter box). I would keep him in the living room and hopefully the others would get used to him and accept him. I appreciate any advice. Thank you.
I also bought a Feliway diffuser for multi-cat homes. I probably need about 5, but I got one for the living room to start. The vet assured me they are better and don’t get as hot (I tossed my last one because I was afraid of a fire). Isn’t he a cutie?
Hi everyone! I want to thank you all again for your kind words on the loss of Spooky. We have another beautiful badge to display too from Layla of Cat Wisdom 101-thank you.

Look what Grammie gave me!! She knew how sad I am about Spooky so she brought me us a 20 ounce container of Party mIx and she gave ME $5 !!! I love my Grammie so very, very, very much!
And look what I found:Mom had it, it says Purple Rain on it by Prince. I think it is a frisbee, I know Mom doesn’t play frisbee so she probably won’t care if I sell it on Ebay ( shh! don’t tell her just in case she minds).
Thank you Spooky for choosing us to be your last home. Your original Mom who went to Heaven 10 years ago always said you were “a love” and I can’t think of a better description for you. You truly were a love and we will miss you forever.
And thank you Ann for this beautiful badge. Also, thank you to all of you that have left comments, I will respond to you individually soon. I am so blessed to have so many people that care.
Hi everyone! As you can see, I am writing today so Spooky is holding on ( knock on wood, 3 times). Mom decided to syringe feed him the Gerber’s baby food- thanks to all who recommended the baby food and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader for recommending using the syringe with it. She didn’t want to force feed him, but he doesn’t spit it out or move away so he must not mind. He had about 1/2 of the jar over the course of the day. He is taking the cerenia for nausea so hopefully it is helping.
Mom read that it takes at least a week for that anemia injection to work and it has only been a few days so she is going to keep feeding him like this. Please keep praying, he is very frail and thin, but if he doesn’t want to give up, we won’t either.
I saw my Grammie Thursday, I love her so very much. She brought us a big bag of treats with the hope Spooky would want some, but he didn’t . I hope I get to see her this week, but she is so busy with her GREAT granddaughter that I am forgotten- phooey!
The winner of our Passsover giveaway is My Purrince, well actually it is the dog, Noodle from The Adventures of Noodle. Now that we can only offer giveaways in the US because every country has different rules and we don’t know them all, my Purrince entered his buddy Noodle’s name because he lives with cats too. I hope Noodle can at least wear the kippa because I don’t think he will like the catnip stuff.
We are joining The Cat on My Head’s Selfie Sunday Blog Hop.I hope this can count as my selfie because for some reason our photos won’t load-phooey! See you tomorrow for the letter O and another giveaway to go with it.
Hi everyone! Today is N day for the A-Z Blogging Challenge. Many of you probably remember Norton the Cat, but for those of you that were probably in grade school or not even born when Norton was traveling with this human, I thought he was worth telling you about.
His owner, Peter Gethers, wrote 3 books about Norton, the Scottish Fold and their travels. The 3 books are titled: The Cat Who Went to Paris, A Cat Abroad: The Further Adventures of Norton, the Cat Who Went to Parisand his Human and The Cat Who’ll Live Forever. You can get all 3 in one 689 page book called The Norton Trilogy on Amazon.
Spooky wouldn’t eat anything today. I got him to lick tuna juice and that was it despite a new anti nausea pill ( cerenia). He also had a B-12 shot and fluids. If Phoebe doesn’t post tomorrow, you will know why. Thank you again for the purrs and prayers.
Joanie and I are recommending Miaow! Cats really are nicer than people ! by Sir Patrick Moore. I am lucky my hubby is a Science nerd and reads Astronomy magazine or I would not have known about this book.
Sir Patrick Moore was the author of more than 70 books on Astronomy and also hosted the BBC’s TV show, The Sky at Night. In addition to that, he was a cat lover. This book was published in April of 2012, nine months before his passing. It is filled with beautiful photos of his cats and stories about them. “They never fail me” was one line in his book that really stood out. My cats never fail me either.
And don’t forget to get your free download of Hilary Grossman’s Plan Bea on Amazon.
Thank you all for the purrs and prayers for Spooky as well as the suggestions. He did eat more Thursday than he did the 2 days before combined. He is still not eating enough, but I am hoping he eats a little more each day.
Thank you Ann of Zoolatry and Sabina of DoggieCaperz for these beautiful badges. Feel free to take them.
Don’t forget to enter Phoebe’s Passover Giveaway by commenting.
Hi everyone! I have a lot to tell you about today. The first thing is the letter L for the A-Z Blogging Challenge. We already recommended Lola’s book back in January. We love Lola’s blog too! Lola :The Diary of A Rescued Cat by Lola and Dawn White is exactly what the title says, it is Lola’s diary from being abandoned in a dumpster to being loved in a forever home. The end of the book is filled with more rescue stories too.
And speaking of books, our friend Hilary from Feeling Beachie is offering her book, Plan Bea for free as a download from today until the 18th so hurry over to Amazon for your free copy. Mom loved this book, click here to read her review.
My sleepover with Grammie was nice. I love her so very, very much. I hope she stays over again sometime soon.
I am trying to stay positive, but Spooky is not doing well. He hasn’t been eating much and we were hoping his new medicine will kick in soon and bring back his appetite. He also had an appetite stimulant and that hasn’t helped much. All purrs and prayers are appreciated.
I am starting my Passover giveaway today and I can only open it to U.S. residents because it was just brought to our attention ( thanks CK ) that there are special rules for all countries and we don’t know them so we are playing it safe. I am very sorry about that.
Hi everyone! Thank you all for the purrs and prayers for Spooky. I will give frequent updates. Today is J day for the A-Z Blogging Challenge and I have 2 authors to recommend.
First is Lillian Jackson Braun, she wrote several The Cat Who mystery novels, according to Wikipedia, she wrote 30, but the last one was canceled by the publisher. When I went to a book sale last week, I purchased one of her books to give away today ( just say in the comments that you want to enter to win). This is book #29, The Cat Who Had 60 Whiskers.
I also want to recommend Jackson Galaxy’s books. I know I didn’t give his most recent one the best review, but I do like his original and all he stands for. He has helped many cats on his show and has educated many pet parents that watch the show. Until he came along, I never gave much though to cats thinking vertically.
Today we are already up to the letter I in the A-Z Blogging Challenge. I am recommending a book that Lucy and I recommended this book way back in August 2014. I Could Pee on This by Francesco Marciuliano is a cute little book of poems by cats. Lucy used to like to think outside the box and on anything that the other kitties enjoyed like catnip mats, paper bags, etc. I miss my Lucy and all her little quirks.
Spooky is modeling with the book. Unfortunately, his PCV ( packed cell volume) was down to 19% from 23% on the latest test. The vet recommended an injection called darbepoetin to stimulate his red blood cells to make more. She said many anemic cats do fine and I don’t have to do this. I asked what she would do if Spooky were her cat, I always ask that question and she said she would treat him with this. I also asked if anything could be causing this like the pepcid or his thyroid condition and she is certain it is the kidney disease.
This does not work in all cats and she has never treated a cat with it so I am nervous. There is another medicine, but many cats end up with reactions from antibody formations. I was also confused as to how some cats can be fine if they are anemic, when I do the Math, if those numbers drop that much weekly then I see his time as running short. The vet said that sometimes the numbers even out, but I want to do this now instead of him needing a transfusion down the line. The vet did say his quality of life would be improved with this and from what I read, anemic cats have appetite loss which would explain his pickiness.
Your continued prayers and purrs are greatly appreciated.
Hi everyone! I am so excited~ My Grammie is staying overnight tonight! I love her so very much and we are going to have lots of treats fun.
Brody is getting braver. He napped most of the day on the bottom bunk bed ( us kitties have our own bunk). He went up to Prancie and head butted her so I think he likes her. Mom says we need to stop hissing at him, I guess we should be nice.
