And the Emmy Goes to

You read that right- it’s a girl! And the Emmy goes to me ūüôā Thank you all for crossing those paws. She is even spayed already, FELV/FIV negative and no microchip so she is all mine. Emmy travels so well, not a peep out of her and it was an hour round trip plus and hour and a half waiting for our turn.

The vet wrote down she is 10, but said she could be anywhere from 6-14. Her teeth look great, but she thought her eyes looked old. I think they are just a very unique color, I am hoping to get some photos soon. She also has a heart murmur and may be hyperthyroid so I need to take her to my regular vet. We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday because I am thankful that I get to keep Emmy.

And now I will let Phoebe take over-

Thanks Mom, I was wondering when I was going to get my turn. There were lots of guesses and 12 of you guessed correctly, no chip and a girl. So I had Mom write your names down and I had Dad pull a name out of his baseball cap. And the winner is Critters in the Cottage-Congratulations!

We are praying for two of the Critters in the Cottage, Esme and Mitalee.

I am going to see Grammie today- finally! I love her so very much. I haven’t seen her since Saturday!!!

Sammy is a conehead right now. He has a small scratch on his ear, but when he scratches and shakes his head, it looks like a crime scene. Mom said she needs to hire “The Cleaner” from the TV show, The Blacklist.

Here is my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day. It is a Haiku titled Zen.

Wanting for nothing
except a meal and warm bed,
cats are very zen.

And here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two. And make sure you add your link if you do a post with the fill-ins.

Wordless Wednesday with a Twirl

We wonder if Sammy did a “twirl” like Kramer did on Seinfeld.

Hooligan in a Can

Hi everyone!   Look at all the goodies I won at Cat Scouts. All I did was guess correctly on which horse would win.

¬† I guessed #5 because Mom made this photo of me on Faceinhole.com and I was on horse #5. Isn’t that cool?

This can of goodies is like a TARDIS, much bigger on the inside. I can’t believe how many goodies were in this can.

Look at all this loot- there were 3 packages- silvervine, valerian and premium catnip. Plus a birdy that sounds just like a real one ( Jinx caught it and delivered it to Mom). There was a ball and a spring and a tin of kitty mints and a laser and a hexbug and a pouch of food too.

Thank you Denmaster! I promise to share- eventually.

The good news is your folks can get you your very own Hooligan in a Can too from Cat Scouts. You don’t have to be a Cat Scout to order one, but Cat Scouts is lots of fun and open to boy and girl kitties, any age , from any country and you don’t even have to have a blog. To be transported to Cat Scouts to order your own Hooligan in a Can just Click Here.

And who knows, you may meet that special someone at Cat Scouts like I did with Maggie.

Friendly Fill-Ins Week #54

Hi everyone! Time for The Friendly Fill-Ins Week 54. The linky may not be ready at midnight like it usually is because Annie has been getting violent storms causing internet troubles. We apologize for any delay, but once the linky is up, you have until Wednesday at midnight to add your link so be sure to add it at McGuffy’s Reader. Thank you to all who participate.

1. I have googled _________________________.
2. I have________________________ on Ebay.
3. I think                                .

4.                         thinks                              .

My answers:

  1. I have googled myself, I bet a lot of you have ūüôā I always google questions about cat health too.
  2. I have bought and sold countless items on Ebay.
  3. I think that I think too much, I can never calm my mind when I attempt to meditate, it feels like there is a ping-pong ball bouncing around in there.
  4. My husband thinks I spend too much money on veterinary care- too bad, my cats are my only indulgence, we don’t travel or have children or live extravagantly.

Sammy got mail today, he won at Cat Scouts betting on The Kentucky Derby. He will tell you all about his prize tomorrow- unless he has a catnip hangover.

Butterfly Cat Scratcher

Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you about a great product from a company that has been in business since 1986.

* Disclaimer: We received a butterfly design corrugated scratcher from Cat Claws, Inc. in exchange for a fair review.

Cat Claws, Inc. was started by Bill and Gale Seliskar. Bill worked for a corrugated box company in 1986 and realized their cats were always scratching the samples he brought home ( in addition to their couch). Once they made these and added catnip, the cats preferred them to the couch and the business was started.

In 2006, they added Scratch ‘n Shapes to their product line. These led to the start of their retail brand, Imperial Cat in 2007.When Bill passed away on 2009 and his wife in 2010, their 2 daughters took over and the company continues to thrive by offering smart solutions for devoted cat owners. The company is based in Morrilton, Arkansas and makes many products right in the USA.

This butterfly is their newest design. And Sammy definitely approves.

It sells for $24.95 and comes with a big bag of catnip to sprinkle on for more fun. Sammy is 19 pounds, possibly 20 and it was plenty big enough for him. Joanie and Phoebe have enjoyed it too but Sammy is the scratcher king of this house.

#Chewy Influencer

Hi everyone! This month my cats tried Merrick Backcountry Grain-Free Real Chicken Recipe Freeze-Dried Raw Cat Treats from Chewy. *

* Disclosure: We are part of the Chewy Blogger Program. We received the treats for free in exchange for reviewing them and spreading the word about Chewy. All opinions are our own.

These treats were a hit or miss with nothing in between. Joanie and Brody gobbled them right up.

Sammy loved them too as well as Prancie

KaTwo, Phoebe, Snowball and Penny did not like them . Nine out of thirteen is still pretty darn good though. They do break up easily to make them easier to chew. I just fed them as treats, but they can be added to the top of canned foods too.

The ingredients list is short which is always good:

Chicken, Chicken Liver, Dried Peas, Dried Potatoes, Gelatin, Salt, Mixed Tocopherols (Preservative).

Chewy has them on sale for $2.72/ 1 oz. bag. And don’t forgetMerrick Backcountry Grain-Free Real Chicken Recipe Freeze-Dried Raw Cat Treats has free 1-2 day shipping on all orders over $49 so stock up on everything while you are there.

Miracle Collars

Hi everyone ! A few of you knew what kind of collars Sammy and Brody had on in yesterday’s post because you have also used them. For those that didn’t know, I am eager to tell you because I like to share information that can help other cats.

My sweet Cat Scout, Sammy was getting to be very aggressive toward Brody. He has always chased him, but now he was making contact and getting Brody’s fur in his claws. He was also peeing on the bed once in a while too. Spraying Feliway helped a little, but not enough. Luckily, Teddy’s Mom, wrote to me about calming collars and how she heard they really work. I immediately called the local pet store, but they didn’t have any. After researching them online, good old Chewy had the best price of $12.98 for a 3 pack. I ordered them and they arrived in less than 24 hours.

The collars have phermones ( just like Feliway) and they also are lavender scented. I had read that lavender is calming, but I am sensitive top smells and was not thrilled by the scent. It was bearable though, I usually get an instant headache from scented candles, perfumes and¬† scented cat litter, but this didn’t give me a headache. I checked the 3 brands sold by Chewy and all are basically the same so I went with the Sentry brand after reading the reviews.

I was just going to put one on Sammy, but my husband thought if Brody and Sammy smelled the same, it would help. Brody used to be a little too frisky and chased any cat that walked past him. He just wanted to play, but the other cats got nervous. I am happy to say they have both calmed down a lot.

On day one there was a big improvement, but Sammy still went after Brody. I think it was more of a habit though because he started to chase him then stopped like he was thinking, ” why am I doing this?” It has been over a week now and we have a peaceful home. I am thinking of trying them on some of the other cats too like Jinx who hates other cats and KaTwo who suffers from feline hyperesthesia. Maybe I should try one too for when I go to the crowded mall on a weekend.

They are supposed to last a month and I will continue for a few months then I will see if they behave without. Even if I have to buy them forever, they are well worth the expense. Has anyone else used them and if so, were you as pleased with the results?

*This is not a sponsored post, I just wanted to spread the word about a great product.

Another Hopping Monday

Hi everyone! Today is the day for a reflections of the A-Z Blogging Challenge post. This was my third year participating ( and completing) the challenge. I enjoyed it as always and found a few new blogs to follow that I would have not found otherwise. I was disappointed that there was no master list as the previous years. I realize it was too time consuming to manage and keep checking to make sure people posted daily, but I did miss it. I had crocheted several items before the challenge began, but I liked having to make it a priority because there are many days¬† I don’t have time to crochet.

I am also joining Comedy Plus’ Awww..Mondays, Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading and The Pet Blogger Showcase blog hops today.

I just finished Alec Baldwin’s memoir, Nevertheless. I enjoyed his first book, A Promise to Ourselves, about his custody battle for his daughter. This book was excellent too, he is not only a great actor, but also very intelligent. He seems to have learned from past mistakes and has incredible insight as to things in his past that led him to make mistakes.

Sammy and Brody are wearing purple collars-did they start a club? I will tell you why tomorrow.
