Hi everyone! I am not a Star Wars fan, my hubby and I are Trekkies, but I couldn’t resist a chance to show off this photo of Lucy from last year. Lucy as Princess Leia. I used pinwheel cookies and yes, I ate them after the photo shoot. Lucy retaliated with a pee on the bed that night, but I guess I deserved it.
I had a few stories left to read in that Chicken Soup book so I figured I would give them a chance and it just made me more mad. I went to that author’s website and she has the story on there so here is the link. She wrote about how good her cat was to tolerate her son using him as a basketball-can you believe it ? OK, I am done my rants for now.
Please purr and prayer for Ann of Zoolatry’s Zoey who is battling eye infections:
in September where I used all cat quotes, I thought I would do some other favorite quotes. I love quotes and have a Pinterest page for my favorites.
My quote for today is from Eldridge Cleaver , “If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem” . I just said this to my Mom yesterday when she was telling me I need to learn to mind my own business about cats that are not mine. I currently have a feral waiting to get spayed next week ( long story).
For Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop, I am cheating a little. I didn’t make this art, but I am eagerly anticipating the both of these graphics on canvas from Vision Bedding and once they arrive, I will be having a giveaway so one lucky winner can get something custom-made of your choice. Thank you again, Ann of Zoolatry
I have some other graphics that some of you made for me that I hope to have put on canvas someday too.
Happy Thursday everyone! I am going to tell you more about our Christmas and then I will tell you about my latest giveaway.
In addition to all the individual gifts and the fun cat box with holes in it, Peaches and Paprika’s Mom gave us this pretty reindeer blanket. I am displaying it over our bunk beds, I am on the top bunk and the bottom bunk is hidden for a great hideaway.
Look what else Grammie gave me! I love her so very much! And she is cat sitting us tonight so we are going to get lots of party mix. Notice that is not George Washington on that bill. I am rich, don’t worry, I won’t let it go to my head.
Mom got a gift that wasn’t cat related, it is a talking Sheldon ornament.
One thing he says is “I’m not crazy, my mother had me tested.” I think Grammie should have had Mom tested- MOL!
Now for that giveaway:
I have a small Grumpy Cat wall Calendar, a Grumpy Cat decal and some Grumpy Cat stickers. Comment for a chance to win, I will announce the winner on Sunday. You can comment every day for more chances to win.
I am joining PepiSmart Dog’s Thankful Thursday Hop because I am a lucky girl. I am thankful for my family ( especially my Grammie who I love so very much) and for my Purrince and for all my friends. I wish you all a Happy and Healthy 2016!!!
I am hoping to put up our tree today so for Athena’s Caturday Art Hop, I went to photofunia and put Lucy on some Christmas balls. I wish I could actually buy some like this.
And for The Lazy Pit Bull’s #52 Snapshots of Life, the theme this week is “thankful”. I am thankful that I had so many years with Lucy and with KaChoo (below). Yesterday was 5 years since my KaChoo went to the Bridge. I am thankful for every kitty I am lucky enough to have share my life.
Happy Friday everyone! Today I have a long overdue book review. I won a copy of Basil The Bionic Cat by Cathrine Garnell back in September, but as you know, I haven’t been reading as much without my Lucy.
Lucy used to pose on my robe with the book, but now like Tiny Tim’s chair, it sits alone.
The book is for children aged 8-12, but I really enjoyed it so I think it should be for ages 8-adult. Basil is a cat that lives in a manor with Mr. And Mrs. Pilkington , their twin daughters and an Aunt. Mr. Pilkington is a bit of a mad scientist ( I envision Doc in Back to the Future) and Basil ends up stepping in the wrong thing leaking from the lab.
This book is full of suspense and mystery as the twins get kidnapped. Fortunately, Basil has developed some new powers from the substance he stepped in. As you know, I don’t like to give long reviews for fear of giving out too much information. I can assure you that this book won’t disappoint. I think it would be a great gift this holiday season for kids and cat loving adults.
Hi everyone. I want to offer my thoughts and prayers to the people of France.
This week I am co-hosting:
I am ____ on ____ so ______
When was the last time you _________
I always make a wish when ____________________.
. I wish I lived __________ because_____________.
I am GOING SHOPPING on BLACK FRIDAY so I WILL NEED TO GET UP EARLY WHICH I DON’T LIKE TO DO ( and yes Mom, we are still going, I will be up)
When was the last time you DID SOMETHING FOR ANIMALS OTHER THAN YOUR OWN? ( I tried to trap an injured cat last week, but had no luck and I make small donations to cats in need weekly- I wish I could do more)Saturday
I always make a wish when I BREAK A WISHBONE AND GET THE LARGER SIDE
I wish I lived IN THE 1940’s and 50’s because I LOVE THE FASHIONS.
I am using the same photo for Athena’s Caturday and The Lazy Pit Bull’s #52 Snapshots , theme “Veteran”. I took this photo of Lucy last year with my Dad’s flag. I never thought Lucy would be with him this year. I used ribbet to add a flag frame/design.
Don’t forget to comment today for a chance to win out Thanksgiving giveaway- a turkey print catnip mat, a crocheted drumstick and pumpkin, a wishbone ornament, a book and a pilgrim hat and feathered headband for photos). Phoebe will announce the winner tomorrow: ( She is making sure everything is there)
Happy Veteran’s Day everyone! I have great respect for those that serve our country. It amazes me that individuals will give their life to protect people they don’t know. So if you are a veteran or currently serving- Thank you.
Many restaurants and businesses are offering free meals, haircuts, etc. today to the military. Here is the link to the most comprehensive list I could find:
IHOP has free red, white and blue pancakes. Olive Garden, Applebees, Country Buffet and many others have free meal offers as well. This is the photo I posted last year of Lucy with an Air Force photo of my Dad and the flag from his coffin. I hope they are together in Heaven.
Happy Tuesday everyone! Snowball has found her boyfriend. Pierrot of Annie’s House . Hus name was originally Snowball- what a coincidence 🙂 They both have white furs and a tipped ear. Sounds meant to be to me.
Have you ever heard that electric blankets cause cancer? I tried to research it online and didn’t find any real facts, just a lot of forums with comments. A couple of years ago, I got my cats a heated throw and their Grammie bought them one too. Lucy used one of them constantly all winter for 2 years and now I am wondering if that is how she got cancer?
I mentioned that to my hubby and he said , “no, but don’t use them anymore.” I know they love them to keep warm as our heat is set at 68 degrees. These had 5 setting and I kept it at 3. Does anyone else use these? And if you do, what setting do you keep it on and how many years has your cat been using them? Spooky on the snowflake one
I sure hope I didn’t give Lucy cancer, and I certainly don’t want this to happen to any of my others either.
Happy Friday everyone! It is sad to do a book review without my Lucy, but I got this book to review after she went to The Bridge. Cats on the Job: 50 Fabulous Felines Who Purr, Mouse and Even Sing for Their Supper by Lisa Rogak is an excellent book filled with all sorts of cats who “work”. In most cases, the word work is a bit of a stretch, but all these cats make life better for the people near them.
( Random shot of Lucy)
One cat lives in a bookstore that is named after him. Boswell’s Books is in Shelburne Falls, MA. Being that this is in my state, I hope to get their sometime soon ( hint, hint to Phoebe’s Grammie).
I also enjoyed reading about Roommate cats in Tokyo. A cat and all their essentials is included in an apartment rental. When the renter moves, they have the option to adopt the cat.
There were also some cats at sea that I am sure you will be hearing more about from our guest posters Cat Scouts Maggie and Felix. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. If you are interested you can get a copy at Amazon. Paperback and Kindle are $9.99.
