Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful.

I made this on Photofunia to motivate myself to get back to decluttering this weekend. I was doing so well until July then I started bringing more items in then taking out. I blame the book sales, but also my IKEA trip and my birthday.

Here are my 10 Thankfuls

  1. Being able to call the vet in the morning and get an appointment that day.
  2. Our walks with Phoebe and seeing how much she enjoys exploring.
  3. Sweater weather.
  4. My great-niece is 1 yr. and 10 months old and knows her colors.
  5. Getting to spend time with my Mom, we went shopping and to lunch on Thursday and I brought her and my great-niece lunch on Tuesday and Friday.
  6. Thankful that there was no email when I was in college because I still have several letters from my great aunt who passed away at the end of my freshman year in college. It is nice to read them and still feel that love.
  7. Thankful that I got to go to college and get the dorm experience.
  8. Thankful my niece went to college and I got to help her move in and move out which gave me the parental view.
  9. Zucchini still coming in ( we have a 2nd planting so we will have it through September).
  10. Free Kindle books-Today only ( Saturday 9/2) you can get The Chattere Trilogy by Jeanne Foguth. It is a great Science Fiction collection for teens and adults. I wrote a review last year for Star Bridge, the first book in the series. To read my review, click here.

Joanie sends thanks to all who complimented her acting in The Codd Mother. She is hoping to win an Acatemy Award.

It’s Monday ! What Are YOU Reading?

Hi everyone! We are joining Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? blog hop and Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays blog hop.

This is Phoebe’s photo that was supposed to be on yesterday’s blog, this time I bought her some treats instead of Grammie.

  Very Awww….worthy.

I have had more time to read lately so here are my latest:

  1. It’s Not Okay:Turning Heartbreak Into Happily Never After by Andi Dorfman is such a shallow bunch of crap. It is on the best seller list so I thought I would give it a try, but I should know that anyone on The Bachelor and Bachelorette wouldn’t be very deep.
  2. L’art de la Simplicite How To Live More With Less by Dominique Loreau is more my style. As you know, I am always decluttering and this book makes you ask a lot of questions about one’s possessions. There are also sections on simplifying your cleaning routine, wardrobe and meals.
  3. Highly Sensitive People in an Insensitive World by Isle Sand was excellent. For anyone who is introverted or gets mentally exhausted when out in the world, this is the book for you. It has a lot of wonderful suggestions for getting through things instead of making up excuses to not attend. Reading it made me feel like I am not crazy, just very sensitive.

I also want to tell you about a sale on Jeanne Foguth’s books. As you know, she dedicated her most recent one,The Vi-Purrs to our Angel Spooky. One of them, Red Claw is currently free and the rest are all half off until March 11th. Please check her website for more information-click here.

And today’s word for #JHC is party, being that I have never been to a Halloween party, I choose the word poison. I made these decorations by gluing scrapbook art to old bottles that my parents had dug up many, many years ago.

V is for Vi-Purrs

Hi everyone! Today is V day for the A-Z Blogging Challenge . I have been looking forward  to V because I get to tell you about one of my favorite authors. As most of you know, I prefer non-fiction, but I love all of Jeanne Foguth’s books which are fiction. I wrote about her Sea Purrtector Files last November and this is the latest in the series.

vi-purrs The Vi-Purrs is the third book in the series, there is also a short prequel called Lattitudes and Cattitudes which is currently free on Amazon-click here. Xander de Hunter is the 007 of the cat world and works for Catamondo. He is assisted by a fun mix of characters including, Mischief, a kitten in training who happens to love water. The author happens to have a cat that loves water, if you are not familiar with Purrseidon, you should visit her blog. And for a more complete description of the series click here.

Special catnip blends are written about in these books so the author’s daughter decided to make her own blends, you can read about that by clicking here. My cats have been “testers” and all the blends they tried were enjoyed. The great news is that there is now an Etsy store to purchase these Cat-A-Bliss blends. I purchased some silvervine sticks a few days ago and they already arrived:Cat-a-Bliss

One of her blends helped rescue a cat this past weekend. If you want to get on your cat’s good side, you should order a special blend, click here to go to Etsy.

I apologize for all the links, but I love this series and hope you will get your free prequel and hopefully want to read the other 3 books. I am also impressed at how much work Jeanne’s daughter has put into making these special blends and I hope you will want to buy some.

Sunshine Blogger Award

Thank you Jeanne Foguth for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award– I accept.

The Rules:

1) Thank the person who nominated you.

2) Answer the 11 questions you were asked.

3) Nominate 11 other bloggers and let them know they were nominated.

4) Ask the nominees 11 questions.

The Questions I was asked:

1. All super heroes have their mild-mannered secret identity, what is yours?

Quiet lady that always goes to the library.

2. What is your favorite game?

Cribbage is my favorite card game. I love the game Operation when I can get someone to play with me.

3. If location and money were immaterial and you could live anywhere, where would that be? I would live most of the time right where I am. I would also have an apartment  in New York City with a door man.

4. If you could relive your life, would you make any changes? If yes, what?

I would take better care of my body physically. I would develop an exercise habit while I was young that would hopefully last my lifetime. I would also not have majored in Elementary Education/Psychology in college, I would have focused on writing.

5. What would your ideal meal be and who would you share it with?

I love The Cheesecake Factory ( luckily the closest is an hour away). I would love to go with my Mom and hubby, but the 3 of us are never out at the same time. If I go out with the hubby, my Mom watches the cats and vice versa. We would split nachos, then I would get their orange chicken over rice followed by strawberry cheesecake. I love their mushroom soup too so I want some of that as well.

6. What’s in store for you in the future? Do you have any big projects on the horizon?

I am going to be babysitting my niece’s baby on Thursdays and Fridays. I have never been a baby person, but she is the sweetest, cutest baby ever. I love her innocence and seeing her change from week to week.

7. What/who was your all-time favorite pet? That is a tough one. KaChoo was my first cat ( 1994-2010) and was very special , but Lucy ( 1999-2015) and I had a special bond. And I will never forget Stinky either.

8. If you had the power to change the world, what would you do?

I would make sure every cat had a forever home.  If they were truly feral, they would have a safe place and food.

9. What has been your best/most memorable experience along the way?

It wasn’t my best, but definitely memorable. I was an extra in 30 Rock in 2008. I got to sit near Alec Baldwin ( couldn’t talk though, extras are the bottom of the totem pole). It was still fun to see the process of making a tv show. And I was visible in the finished product.

10. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Not sure where it came from, I read it in a book- do what you love and the money will follow. I am definitely doing what I love so I am sure the money will follow soon 🙂

11. All super heroes have a special power, what is yours?

I can spot a cat anywhere. I am always saying to my Mom, ” did you see that cat? I want

it. ” Then she tells me I am hallucinating.

My nominees:  I know it says to pick 11, but I am going to break the rules and open it to whoever wants to do it. I know this one is time-consuming and a lot of you don’t have time, but I would love to read your answers to my questions:

  1. For what are you most grateful?
  2. What is one thing about your life you wish you could change?
  3. What talent do you wish you had?
  4. Do you prefer to read an actual book or the e-version?
  5. What is your favorite book?
  6. If you could go back in time, what year would you choose?
  7. Cats should be indoor only- true or false?
  8. Do you believe in ghosts?
  9. What is a bad habit you have? ( Come on, we all have them)
  10. What would you like to learn more about?
  11. Do you have any connections to Nic Cage? I really want to meet him.

If you have read this far, you deserve a prize: A tummy and toesies photo of Joanie.

Happy Groundhog Day!

It’s Monday What Are You Reading?

Hi everyone, as you know I like to hop so I am joining The Book Date’s, It’s Monday What Are You Reading? badge

Back in November, I reviewed some of Jeanne Foguth‘s books, click here for those reviews. Her Sea Purrtector Files are fiction about cats. This book is not about cats, but there is one big cat named Kazza and that was good enough for me to want to read it( plus the fact that I like her writing and she is a wonderful  person).

Star Bridge is a Science Fiction/Fantasy about a young girl named Nimri who becomes “The Keeper of the Peace” of Chaterres after her grandfather passes away. Chaterre is a primitive world that is divided into the Chosen and the Lost people. Kazza is the large cat that is Nimri’s pet and travels with her.

Colonel Larwin and his android crash lands on Chaterre. Larwin wants to take over these people, but starts to feel differently as he learns about them and befriends Nimri. Kazza also endears himself to Larwin. I won’t tell you anymore, but this is book one of The Chaterre Trilogy so you will have a lot of entertainment. This was the perfect read for me last week to keep my mind off of the loss of Stinky.

The e-book is $2.99 at Smashwords , but Jeanne Foguth has given us a coupon code so you can get your copy for only 99 cents. The code is: Star Bridge  / 99  = TB54M .

See you tomorrow for a Chewy Review. And don’t forget to comment for a chance to win Phoebe’s giveaway:015She will announce the winner on Thursday.

The Sea Purrtector Files

Happy Friday! This week I have a double review that is long overdue. I follow Purrseidon’s blog, she is a cat that loves water. Her Mom is author Jeanne Foguth and she was kind enough to send some of her cat themed e-books.

The Red Claw is book one of The Sea Purrtector Files. The main character is a cat named Xander de’Hunter, a seal point Siamese. I think of him as a James Bond of cats, he even has a fancy gadget collar. He is part of Catamondo’s Worldwide Communication Network which is to protect cats everywhere.

I also read Latitudes and Cattitudes which is a prequel to The Sea Purrtector Files. It is a very short read, but I am glad I read it first to put everything in place for me as I read the series. This explains how Xander joined Catamondo.

I like to keep my reviews short and sweet so I won’t give out more information, but if you like cats, you will enjoy this series. You can get them in paperback or Kindle at Amazon starting at 99 cents. They are also available on Smashwords for the same prices.

I am planning to read Purr-A-Noia , Book 2 in the series next and I look forward to book 3 in the near future. Don’t forget to comment to be entered in our Thanksgiving Giveaway.

We will be hopping tomorrow. I am co-hosting Feeling Beachie’s Follow Friday Four Fill-In Fun this week, but I won’t have my post ready until Saturday.
