Hi everyone! Mom had a lot of fun at IKEA yesterday. She bought some curtains with black cats on them. And a weasel for her great-niece, I mean an easel.
Would you believe these were her main reason for wanting to go? They are children’s toys, but she buys them for us. They no longer are listed in the catalog or online so she was thrilled to find them. She bought 9 mice and 2 rats. She said some are for giveaways and I can give one away today. If you want to be entered for a chance to win, tell me in the comment section which color you will choose if you win, they come in white, gray and brown. I will announce the winner on Tuesday.
Remember my lemonade stand that I made with a CHEWY box?(click here)
Joanie was worried that we didn’t have lemonade and I told her it didn’t matter, we would still get stuff for having a lemonade stand. I was right! Look what Chewy sent us because they liked my stand.
Of course, I do all the work and Sammy tried to take the prize. We got 2 packages of treats, lots of catnip toys , including a mouse and a carrot, a wand toy, a burlap bag, a bandana and a magnet for mom’s car. Mom thinks the bag is for her, but I have claimed it as a nice spot to snooze on. Thank you Chewy!!!
I haven’t seen my Grammie since Wednesday, I hope she visits soon. I love her so very much.
I am joining The Cat on My Head’s Sunday Selfie Blog Hop.
Hi everyone! Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop was canceled for this week, we will miss it and hope it returns next week.
We are participating in the Ten Things of Thankful Blog Hop–
- I am thankful that I can sew ( a little) so I could j=help Sammy with his Cat Scout’s hat.
2. For witchery ( the stuff you use so you don’t have to sew something) , I did have to dust off the old iron though. I used it to get the tiny badges on Sammy’s hat.
3. I am thankful it is raining so I don’t have to go out at midnight and look for meteors. I usually don’t mind, but I need to get up early.
4. The reason I need to get up early is —I am going to IKEA! Finally! With my niece and great-niece. I wish my Mom was going too, but she thinks it will be too crowded.
5. I am thankful Joanie got through her dental and a small bump removed on Thursday. I always worry when anyone I love is going under.
6. For my 49 free books I got on Monday.
7.Our first corn of the year from our garden-fantastic ( that is the actual name of it).
8. Spending time with my mom and the great one on Friday.
9. For a special Chewy package Phoebe will tell you about tomorrow.
10. I am thankful for all of the friends I have made through blogging, I am truly blessed.
Hi everyone! We are not joining the book blog hop because I haven’t read anything worth recommending-unless the new IKEA catalog counts. I have spent way too much time with that. Joanie still wants to do a review though and she is joining Comedy Plus’ Awww… Mondays Blog Hop.
This book is stupid. The author let someone move his cheese. If I had some cheese no one would move it because it would be in my tummy.
Thank you Joanie for that interesting review. This is actually a classic that we own although I have yet to find any cheese 🙂
Make sure you comment on yesterday’s post for a chance to win this shark themed catnip mat. Phoebe will announce the winner tomorrow.
Happy Tuesday everyone! Still battling the fleas, but their troops are way down-I think I will win this war–eventually. In better news, the new IKEA catalog arrived yesterday and I had my hubby hide it 🙂 If I start looking at it before I go to bed, I can’t sleep. I get so excited- I know I am pathetic.
Today is medical day and I am going to write about my next battle tapeworms. I know cats can get them from ingesting one flea, that happened to Stinky a few years ago. So I am going to assume all my cats have them, but there is no use deworming until the flea problem is completely gone. Here is an article I found about tapeworms: http://ladymeow.hubpages.com/hub/Fleas-Tapeworms .
I am going to keep this short- I must get to my IKEA catalog. Have a great day!
Hi everyone- Monday again already! I am very excited today as I am off to the biggest book sale in my area- actually, it is an hour and a half away in Newtown, CT. My mom and I go every year, but we skipped last year as it seemed so sad after what happened at the school. On Wednesday, I am going to ROAR about a new shelter in memory of one of the children.
Monday is fun and games day and I have searched Pinterest for something easy and free to make for your kitty this week. I came up with this: http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2012/04/no-sew-socktopus.html . It is a simple octopus made out of an old sock and stuffed with polyfil ( or the other sock 🙂 ). Mine didn’t come out as cute as the one on the link , but here is Spooky with it:
The link above used google eyes glued on, but I thought it would be safer to stitch a couple on with embroidery floss.
And the winner of the laser and the IKEA mice is——Oui Oui ( make sure you share with your siblings). Congratulations and thanks to everyone who commented. I will be having another contest soon so please keep checking, or better yet, sign up to get the daily posts delivered to your email.
I am off to search for cat books, with about 120,000 books to choose from, I am sure I will find something.Millie thinks I should wear these today 🙂
Hi everyone, hope you are all having a nice weekend. Today is the last day to enter the contest to win 2 IKEA mice and a laser pointer. All you have to do is comment, if you have since Friday then you are entered.
Today is “Every Cat Has a Story” day and I am going to tell you about Phoebe. Phoebe is the sweetest, more PURRsonable cat we have. We call her Miss Congeniality because she always helps the newbies get settled and gets along with all the other cats.
Poor Phoebe had a rough start, she was adopted as a kitten by a lady that was too ignorant to get her fixed. She ended up being pregnant before she was 1. Then the woman ( she was a friend of a friend) was going to leave her and her brother on the highway thinking they would get found quicker. Luckily, my friend stepped in and brought the other cat back to the shelter he had come from and found a place that would take Phoebe in. She asked me to take the ride with her and it was love at first site. I held her crate on my lap the whole ride and she purred and purred. By the time we arrived to the meeting spot, an hour and a half later, I had to have her.
Unfortunately, my hubby wasn’t going to let me take in a pregnant cat. I got the lady’s email ( she was a volunteer from http://www.neponsethumane.org/ ) We kept in touch and when Phoebe’s kittens were weaned, I was able to adopt her. Sadly, 2 of her 4 kittens died 🙁 I used my “birthday month” to get Phoebe into the house and the rest is history. That was way back in 2003 and I can’t imagine life without her- even my hubby who was so difficult at first, adores her. Sometimes when Phoebe saves up some money, she donates it to shelters.
Friday already- hello to my loyal readers and welcome to new ones. My trip to IKEA went well, but I am beginning to doubt my sanity. Almost everything I bought was for the cats. I would never buy furniture in there, I look for that on Craigslist because it will be cheaper and assembled. This is Joanie and Lucy checking out the loot. I got a fleece throw for $1.99, toy mice and a rat ( not sure why those are in the children’s toys), a frame and a hook that looks like a cat’s butt.
Now for books: I have 2 for you and Lucy has one. Lucy is a fan of French Cats Don’t Get Fat, that may be true, but my cats are all rather plump 🙂 I am recommending another older one : http://www.amazon.com/The-Cat-Covered-World-Correspondent/dp/0743222768/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405081115&sr=8-1&keywords=the+cat+who+traveled+the+world . The Cat Who Traveled the World by Chris Wren is about a cat who went overseas with her foreign correspondent owner and their adventures.
Now that I am taking a class on illustrating children’s books, I have been looking for books on drawing cats. In case you want to find your inner artist or just draw your cats then Draw 50 Cats by Lee J. Ames is a good choice: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/draw-50-cats-lee-j-ames/1110931129?ean=9780823085750 .
And last, but not least-the contest: I am giving away a set of 2 mice and a snake ( from IKEA) along with a laser pointer ( not pictured): Just comment today, tomorrow or Sunday and you will be entered. I will announce a winner on Monday- Good luck and have a nice weekend.
.Hi everyone- I am going to IKEA today and hope to get some fun stuff to raffle off. I love Ikea, but only get there once every couple of years if I am lucky. There are 2 that are only an hour and a half away, but I don’t drive on highways and no one ever wants to take me ( no one meaning my mom or hubby).
My sweet Lucy gave me an early birthday gift ( my b-day isn’t for a couple weeks) . She peed inside the litter box- I think it was an accident on her part, but I will pretend it is her gift to me as it only happens a couple times a year. Thank you Lucy and she already has her book picked for tomorrow.
Today is behavior day and going to IKEA reminds me of a cord holder I had to purchase there several years ago when my niece lived here and her cat, Nixon kept chewing wires. The cable reel: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20097954/ is like a vacuum hose with a slit in it and is great to cover cords. Another even cheaper option is a pool noodle- those foam sticks that cost about $1, just put a slit down one side.
I miss Nixon, I still get to cat sit for him and his sister, Nellie though. Here he is: and his sister:
Don’t forget to watch Marc Maron tonight- I hope he has a cat on the show. Have a nice day and be sure to look for a contest tomorrow.
