Tuxie Tuesday

Hi everyone! Time to announce the winner of the giveaway for an IKEA mouse.

I am going to let Emmy announce the winner.

By the way, I haven’t seen Grammie since last Wednesday! I love her so very much, I hope she visits me soon.

And the winner is Teddy of One Spoiled Cat! Congratulations! Your white mouse will go out in the mail today. Everyone else, don’t worry, we will be doing another mouse giveaway soon.

Tuxie Tuesday

Hi everyone! Emmy wanted to say hi today.

Hi!

Now would you look at all these books. Mom is always giving stuff away and decluttering, but she seems to have lost her mind. Her and Dad went to a book sale, it was the last day and all books were free so she came home with 49!!!! Of those, 4 were for Dad, 1 for Grammie ,1 for The Great One

and the rest were all for her. I think I should pee on them, I would be doing her a favor because she would have to get rid of them. This is just too much clutter. And ironically, one of the books is titled, Throw Out Fifty Things. Mom read it and threw away 50 things back in 2012, and continues to declutter, but she clearly has given up.

I hope Grammie visits soon. I love her so very much. She is supposed to be here Wednesday.

And the winner of the Sharknado catnip mat and crocheted fishies is As the World Purrs!

PS: If you have a wordpress blog and don’t see a comment from Mom, please check SPAM. Every once in a while WordPress decided it doesn’t like her and does that. Sorry.

Art and Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! I am joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and the Ten Things of Thankful Blog Hop.

I realize my art is awful this week, but it is not done yet. I am so eager to tell you about this that I couldn’t wait to finish. I signed up for The Kindness Rocks Project and these are the rocks I am painting. It is such a wonderful idea. You paint rocks with messages and cute pictures, you also write #kindness rocks project on the back and coat them with a clear coating. Then you place them somewhere for someone to find. Imagine having a bad day and looking down to see a rock that says “hope” or “faith”. They want everyone who does this to sign up so there doesn’t end up being a whole pile of rocks in one place, that would take away the fun. If you are interested, click here.

I will show you mine when I complete them.

Now for my thankfuls:

  1. I am thankful for a hubby that drags me outside to appreciate things like this rainbow:

2. For my Mom being willing to cat sit when the hubby and I got somewhere for a few hours. Otherwise, I would be filled with anxiety worrying about them.

3. The cute way my great- niece said couscous when I brought her some for lunch .

4. A new Ikea catalog in the mail.

5. For kind people in the world that come up with idea like The Kindness Rocks project.

6. More blueberries, zucchini and string beans from the garden.

7. Emmy getting on the bed during the night for a little affection ( even if it is about 3 AM) .

8. Figuring out how to start a free blog for Phoebe and her friend Kali, The Crotchety Cougars. Click here to visit

9. For Kali’s Mom doing all the photo editing for the cougars and writing the first post.

10. A nice night to watch for meteors earlier this week. I didn’t see any, but my hubby did before I went out.

Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Athena’s Caturday Art and Ten Things of Thankful Blog Hops.

I decided to use Be Funky and added a grunge frame to Emmy’s photo. She is a sweet kitty, she is not a lap cat, but she does come near us for affection.

Here are my Ten Things of Thankful

  1. I am thankful for all my birthday wishes on the 23rd, including over 200 of them on Facebook.
  2. Got to go to a book sale with my hubby and then out to our favorite diner for blueberry pancakes.
  3. At the book sale, I scored an Amelia Bedelia book I didn’t have for only 50 cents. My Mom and I collect them and will read them to the great one eventually.
  4. Also scored some books I had never heard of that look interesting. I love going to book sales and finding older books I didn’t know existed.
  5. I attended a healing mass at a local shrine with my Mom and sister.
  6. Got to spend lots of quality time with my cats this week.
  7. Was much cooler this week and less humid.
  8. Homemade pickles I made taste great.
  9. More fresh from the patch blueberries, enough to freeze some.
  10. I am now 48 and have no aches or pains despite needing to lose a lot of weight. I know some people have arthritis and all sorts of pains at my age.

Thankful Caturday

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and The Ten Things of Thankful Blog Hop too.

I added a frame to Emmy’s photo. KaTwo loaned her this hat, she wants to know how she looks?

And for #PMT photohunt @tonkstail “Opposite”

The opposite of on is off- this is one of Phoebe’s bloopers from the 4th of July.

Now for my ten thankfuls

  1. My sister and the great one had an ice cream party for my Mom and I, it was a lot of fun.
  2. We won a great prize package that came this week (we will tell you about it in another post).
  3. I won a book on Goodreads a month ago and it finally came in.
  4. Fresh blueberries which make fantastic muffins.
  5. Spending  Wednesday and Friday with my Mom.
  6. I am thankful my hubby and I are home together almost always ( even if he is out in the garden a lot of the time).
  7. Garden fresh celery ( once you try it grocery store one will not taste right).
  8. Central air conditioning- very necessary lately.
  9. Allergy shots, they seem to be working.

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone. Before we start, I want to have a moment of silence for Gertrude of Marg’s Animals who left for The Rainbow Bridge on Monday.

I am joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop because I am thankful that we are finally rid of the sickness that we all had ( except Brody). And I will be seeing Grammie today, I love her so very much.

Brody wasn’t sick, but he didn’t escape a trip to the vet. He was due for a rabies vaccine. This week, Brody and I wrote a poem together for Sammy’s Poetry Day.

Damn Vet
Mom dragged me off the damn vet
I am starting to think I’m not her favorite pet
I admit I felt like crud
but those vampires shouldn’t have taken my blood
They gave me an anti-nausea shot
I guess that helped a lot
The next day Mom dragged me off too
please remind me to vomit in her shoe
I was given a rabies vaccine
by a lady whose name was not Maxine
To my lovely Leia I send a kiss
to Mom and the Damn vet a hiss!

Emmy also wanted to give writing poetry a try so she used one of the word choices, dark.

Dark
I only come out when it is dark
that is when I get my spark
When everyone else is sound asleep
I wander about not making a peep
In the morning toys scattered on the floor
to pick them all up is quite a chore
Maybe someday I will sleep at night
instead of sleeping while it is light

Do you like my shades?

Mom is participating in Wandering Through the Shelves TMP blog hop again this week, the theme is summer vacation.

  1. A Walk on the Moon ( 1999)- Set in 1969, a family goes to a Jewish summer retreat in The Catskills. Great music and incredible acting by Diane Lane, Liev Schreiber, Viggo Mortensen and a young Anna Paquin. This is one of my favorite films and it doesn’t even have Nicola Cage in it.
  2. Dirty Dancing ( 1987)- I think everyone knows of this one.
  3. Dirty Dancing (2017) – This is a remake of the original and made for tv, but it was pretty good. Abigail Breslin played Baby, I think she seemed too young for the part. The original came out when I was 18 so it could just be that I am so much older now that she seemed extra young. I did like the extra ending in this one.

And here are the fill-ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two. Please purr and pray for Annie’s beautiful cat, Chloe Jo , she has been having numerous health problems and was hospitalized for several days.

1. My favorite line from a film is __________________________.

2. Other than blogs, a website I visit often is __________________.

3. When I feel down, I                              .

4. If I could                         , I would                           .

It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading and Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays blog hops.

First off, Joanie wants to try to do a book review. This book not about guinea pigs. They lied.

OK Joanie, we need to work on your reviews a little more. The Guinea Pig Diaries by A.J. Jacobs was not about guinea pigs, but it was a fun book. I enjoyed the author’s other books, The Year of Living Biblically ( he follows The Bible literally) and his other book about reading the encyclopedia from A-Z. In this book, he tries several experiments over the course of a year, including Radical Honesty, which lead to hilarious results.

Hillbilly Elegy : A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D.Vance tells about the struggles of the working class in Appalachia. I actually don’t think these struggles are unique to that area. I see many of the same things in my own small New England town including rampant drug use. In 2015, my town had the highest opioid death rate per capita in the state.

I am also reading Tinker Dabble Doodle Try: Unlock the Power of the Unfocused Mind by Srini Pillay . His book is the opposite of the advice we normally get to stay focused on something. He suggests we unfocus to yield more results. As someone who multi-tasks often, I was happy to read that is a good thing to do.

One more thing..Emmy wants to know if you like her hat?

Friendly Fill-Ins Week 59

Hi everyone! Before I start the fill-ins, I want to update my challenges. I have been trying to do all the suggested challenges. I did my own and wrote to a college roommate who emailed me back. I did write a poem ( well, I helped Phoebe with her banana one), I did a craft project ( crocheting), I mailed CK a gift- well played CK. 🙂 I enjoyed every moment except for the one when Sammy peed on the couch. I have been mostly patient and kind with everyone. Someone wrote to help an elderly person, not sure if this counts, but I donated a dozen bee balm plants to the senior center to give away. I try to do that every month, I have donated false shamrock and prayer plants too.

I still need to not eat meat for a day which I guess will be today. And one I doubt I can do is make a new friend with similar interests. I don’t really go many places and it takes a while to build a friendship so I can’t do that one..I enjoyed all these challenges and thank you all for the ideas. And now fill-in time.

1. A recurring dream I have is _______________________.

2. Turn ______________ into ________________________.

3.                              is driving me crazy!

4. Lately, I have been                        .
My answers:
1. A recurring dream I have is the adult version of dreaming one is in school and didn’t prepare for a test. I often dream it is Christmas Eve and guests are arriving, but I am still looking for decorations and I haven’t started cooking.
2. Turn old books into art.
Remember my pumpkin books? I have been finding more ideas on Pinterest that I will be trying soon.
3. Sammy is driving me crazy! I give him more attention than any other cat and he still acts out once in a while and pees on the couch. Luckily, I had it covered with a waterproof pad.
4. Lately, I have been trying to be more thankful for all that I have. Which reminds me, my 3 thankfuls for today are: I am thankful for all who participate in The Friendly Fill-Ins, I love learning about everyone. I am thankful strawberry season is almost over and I am thankful that Joanie is sitting on my lap as I type this.
Be sure to add your link at McGuffy’s Reader. You can also answer in the comment section.
One more thing- Emmy wants to know if she looks better in this hat than the one she had on last week?

Wordless Wednesday

Hi everyone! This is mostly wordless, but I need to add my three thankfuls- I am thankful I got to spend time with my Mom and great-niece yesterday, thankful Emmy is adjusting well, thankful I have a washer machine because Sammy was a bad boy.

Prancie says these are too tangy , she would prefer a bowl of steak.
