Hi everyone! Today is J day for The A-Z Blogging Challenge.
Brody is posing with a Jalapeno pepper.Last year I made a Jack O’ Lantern.
Hi everyone! Welcome to my latest installment of Penny’s Tips. This is sort of a shared post with mom, it is her idea, but I improved on it.
She made an Advent calendar for us using a mini muffin pan that has 24 slots. Dad cut out the circles from scrapbook paper and she numbered them. She puts treats in for us for each day of December up until Christmas.
We are joining Create with Joy’s Inspire me Monday’s Blog Hop. There are already over 200 holiday ideas linked up so be sure to check it out.
Hi everyone! Mom has been destroying books again! Do you remember last year she made pumpkins? If not, click here.
All you do is take the cover off an old paperback, cut an apple shape out of the book. Then you fold the book back and glue the spine. You can also add drops of glue at the top of each page ( mom didn’t, she is lazy). Some of the books ended up with built-in stems that she painted green ( I think she should have painted them brown). And others, she added a piece of a pussy willow branch. Then she added ribbons and a worm in one 🙂
She is going to donate these to the senior center to put on tables at their monthly birthday dinner then they can give them away, but she said I could take one for a giveaway.
I am having a giveaway of this book apple and this beautiful apple print catnip mat. Just leave a comment on today’s post before Wednesday 9PM (EST). I will announce the winner on Thursday. Feel free to tell me how beautiful I am, I don’t mind.
We are joining Create-with-Joy’s Inspire me Monday Blog Hop ( Yes, I know it is Tuesday). There are almost 200 links on this hop with lots of crafts and recipes.
PS: I hope Grammie visits me soon, I love her so very much.
Hi everyone! Today we are skipping the book blog hop because Mom hasn’t had time to read much. I want to tell you about our spiders.
After Halloween, Mom bought a spider kit on clearance at Michael’s. Have you ever heard of The Legend of the Christmas Spider? If not, click here to read about it.
Her kit came with the black pipe cleaners already cut and 2 sizes of pompoms. You just twist 4 pipe cleaners together, then glue a small pompom onto a big one then glue that onto the pipe cleaners. A spider needs a web though so Mom bought some silver pipe cleaners and had Dad cut them in half for her.
She made a plus sign out of 2 pipe cleaners and an x with 2 more then wound some gold yarn around them. Then she twisted the yarn around each piece going in a circle two times. She copied the story onto Christmas paper and will give these out as party favors on Christmas Eve so everyone can have a spider in their Christmas tree.
PS: I love my Grammie very much, I can’t wait to see her soon.
KaTwo is posing with The Lion in The Living Room by Abigail Tucker. I wish I could say I was enjoying this book, but unfortunately, I find it to be a little boring. It reads like a History text book and tells about bad things that were done to cats centuries ago which was very disturbing.
Prancie is posing with a turkey decoration for Thanksgiving. I made it with an old light bulb that I painted brown. Then I added feet cut out of foam and googly eyes and feathers. They are breakable though so you have to be careful.
Hi everyone! Sorry if I squeeze so many hops into one post, but I love to hop and don’t want to miss any. Today we are joining one that I have only hopped in once before. Create with Joy’s Inspire me Monday is filled with great recipes and craft ideas. I thought it would be a great place to share button art.
Some of these are on canvas, but I also used blank cards for some too. This is a fun way to make Halloween cards. I drew a ghost on the black cards with chalk and then covered it over with white buttons and some pearls. For the pumpkins, I traced a circle on a white card and glued orange buttons over it. I didn’t have green buttons so I used turquoise.
I actually read 2 books about cats this week. One was awful , A Cat Called Hope by Oliver Clarke. I thought it was a true rescue story, but it was fiction about a man who abuses his family and the cat. I am glad it wasn’t a true story, but I found the descriptions disturbing and I am sure similar things do happen.
Peter The White Cat of Trenarren by Alfred Lestie Rowe published in 1974 is a great book that the author wrote about a beloved cat he had back in the 1950’s. Finding books like this are why I go to book sales.
One more book worth telling you about doesn’t include a cat, but it really makes one think. Unfinished Business by Lee Kravitz is about the author trying to right any wrongs of his past. At the end of the book is a toolkit to help you identify and unfinished business you may have. I just finished the book and I plan to use the toolkit.
And last, but not least is P.S.Annie’s 19-Somethin. The question of the day is When did you have your first microwave in your home and were you afraid it would make you sick?I don’t remember the exact year we got a microwave, but I know it was the early 1980’s and I was not afraid of it.
Thank you for reading all this.
Hi everyone! As you know we love to hop so today we are joining 3 of them. First for Comedy Plus Awww….Monday , I have a photo of Sammy posing with some books I am reading this week.
The books are our entry for The Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are You Reading ? As always, I am reading several books, but I wanted to give these 2 cookbooks a shout out because they were written by LouLou’s Mom.
Rome at Home and No Need to Knead are both cookbooks by Suzanne Dunaway. I have been following her kitty LouLou’s blog for over a year and once in a while she posts a great recipe so I figured it was about time to check out the cookbooks. I haven’t had a chance to make anything yet, but I will as soon as I get done with Phoebe’s crown. I am planning to make English muffins and a French baguette from No Need to Knead. I also want to make potato gnocchi recipe in Rome at Home.
And last, but not least, I am joining Create With Joy’s Inspire Me Monday Hop. This is a fun hop that includes craft projects. recipes and so much more.. I thought the button art would qualify.
Phoebe already has 12 names collected for the sunglasses to travel. She is still taking names and will display the badge tomorrow. This is going to be fun. Now I must go finish Phoebe’s crown or I will never hear the end of it.
Happy Monday everyone! You all know how we love to hop, well, this week we are hopping on Monday too. Inspire Me Monday is a fun hop hosted by Create with Joy to display your creativity. If you are looking for some crafts and recipes be sure to check it out. I had fun
torturing dressing the kitties for Thanksgiving photo shoots this weekend. I crocheted little pilgrim hats for them.
I found the instructions on Ravelry ( I combined 2 patterns). I have one pattern on Ravelry that I designed for the catnip turkey legs. Here is the link in case you want to crochet some.
Phoebe will be starting a giveaway Thursday that includes a turkey leg and a pilgrim hat .
Happy Friday everyone! We are starting our hopping a day early this week. I am co-hosting Feeling Beachie’s Follow Friday Four Fill-In Fun:
The statements are:
The code is:
I am also going to join the Friendship Friday Hop:Create with Joy
Another hop I have been wanting to join and finally remembered is: The Friday 56 is a fun hop, you turn to page 56 of a book you are reading ( or 56% in a reader) and pick a line. I haven’t been reading as much this past month since my beloved Lucy has been gone. We had started to read My Street Cats Their Personalities and Social Behavior by Raphaella Bilski . Here’s a line from page 56 even though we only got to page 48: “One harsh winter day, we heard the fierce cries of a kitten.”
I am started my hopping early this week because I am co-hosting Feeling Beachie’s Friday Follow Fill-In Fun:
1. I used to be LAID BACK but now I am NOT ( or so I have been told)
2. I have too much TO READ and not enough TIME TO READ
3.When I am SAD I SNUGGLE A CAT(S)
4. I wanted to be A DANCER when I was YOUNG
I also want to join the Friendship Friday Blog Party at Create with Joy so I am putting a link to a previous post when I made the pattern for crocheted turkey legs: http://www.15andmeowing.com/tag/crochet-turkey-legs/
