Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

I iz thankful that mom bought me a new blankie a few weeks ago and I liked it so much that she bought me a backup blankie. You may wonder why I get 2 blankies. I am special because I sleep between my Mom and Dad for most of the night. My blankies have Pusheen the Cat on them , Petco clearance $3.00.

Mom said to thank everyone who gave suggestions for the book vases. She is going to try some of your ideas and will post the results when they are completed.

And here is our poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day. Here is the photo we had to write a poem about: for today.

Sometimes problems get you down
instead of a smile, you want to frown.
You feel like you are in the dark
in a flood without an ark.
Instead of feeling dread
just keep moving ahead.
If you try with all your might,
you will soon see the light.

And for the A-Z Blogging Challenge, we have Sammy posing with an eyeball.

And here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for Friday.

And here are the Friendly Fill-ins for Friday. Mom came up with the first two and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two.

Penny’s Tips Volume 13

Hi everyone! I have an unusual tip, more of a question actually. Mom made these book vases and she thinks they look to plain. I suggested she decorate them with pennies, but she doesn’t want to.

Any better suggestions of how to perk them up?

Millie is modeling Mom’s A-Z Challenge , C creation- coal , she makes these for naughty kitties at Christmas.

Don’t forget to comment on yesterday’s post to enter the giveaway for this catnip mat and socks ( Joanie is not included). Giveaway closes at 10 PM ( EST) April 3rd.

This week was our choice for the Mewsic hop.We just had a Blue Moon so I thought I would go with songs with moon in the title.

  1. Creedence Clearwater Revival-Bad Moon Rising -this is my hubby’s favorite group.

2. Fly Me to the Moon (Frank Sinatra)-my all time favorite singer.

3. Moon River (Andy Williams)- I didn’t know about this song until this episode of Sex and the City.

Do you have another Moon song you prefer?

I am skipping the Reading Hop this week because I haven’t had a chance to read much.

Monday Hops

Today is the A-Z Blogging Challenge Theme Reveal. I already blabbed about that though so you know I am crocheting an item for each day- it will be a cat toy or a cat hat. At the end of the month, I will have a giveaway with 2 winners splitting the loot like last year.

We are joining Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays, McGuffy’s Reader’s Sparks and Mewsic Moves Me ( hosted by Curious as a Cathy, Xmas Dolly, JAmerican Spice and Stacy Uncorked.) I am also joining Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

My Spark today is to pay tribute to Stephen Hawking with a quote of his. ” However different life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.”

This week was your choice on the Mewsic so I decided to pick some Bryan Adams songs. When my niece got married 4 years ago, she told the dj no Bryan Adams songs even if guests requested them. I was surprised she disliked him so much, well, I like him so here are my choices-

  1. Summer of 69 ( 1984), because that is when I was born-

2. The Best Was Yet to Come ( 1983)- This was my junior prom theme song

3. Heaven (1984)- I just like the song.

My book recommendation is one I just finished reading,

Grandma Gatewood’s Walk: The Inspiring Story of the Woman Who Saved the Appalachian Trail by Ben Montgomery.

Emma Gatewood was from a family of 15 children and had 11 of her own. She had been abused by her husband for 30 years. When she was 67 she decided to walk The Appalachian Trail alone, it was 1957. She wore Keds sneakers ( and replaced them a few times along the way), she didn’t even have a tent or sleeping bag. She completed it 2 more times after that too. What an inspiration.

Have you seen Joanie’s latest guest appearance on The Codmother?

Another Hopping Monday

Hi everyone! Today is the day for a reflections of the A-Z Blogging Challenge post. This was my third year participating ( and completing) the challenge. I enjoyed it as always and found a few new blogs to follow that I would have not found otherwise. I was disappointed that there was no master list as the previous years. I realize it was too time consuming to manage and keep checking to make sure people posted daily, but I did miss it. I had crocheted several items before the challenge began, but I liked having to make it a priority because there are many days  I don’t have time to crochet.

I am also joining Comedy Plus’ Awww..Mondays, Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading and The Pet Blogger Showcase blog hops today.

I just finished Alec Baldwin’s memoir, Nevertheless. I enjoyed his first book, A Promise to Ourselves, about his custody battle for his daughter. This book was excellent too, he is not only a great actor, but also very intelligent. He seems to have learned from past mistakes and has incredible insight as to things in his past that led him to make mistakes.

Sammy and Brody are wearing purple collars-did they start a club? I will tell you why tomorrow.

Z is for Zeppelin

Hi everyone! I am such a dip that I forgot to post my Z for the A-Z challenge in Sunday’s post.  Z is for Zeppelin. I couldn’t find a free pattern so I made it up as I went along.

And now for the fun part, I am giving everything away to 2 lucky winners. Each winner will get 11 toys and 2 hats.Just leave a comment saying which item I made was your favorite. Phoebe will announce the winners on Thursday.

We are also joining Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays and Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? blog hops.

Memoirs are my favorite genre so I read Insomniac City by Bill Hayes even though I was not familiar with his writing before reading this. I can’t even put into words how much I enjoyed this book. Mr. Hayes lost his partner in San Fransisco suddenly then he moves to NYC and finds love again with Oliver Sacks ( another author I was unfamiliar with, but will read now).

I really enjoyed his style of writing and how he chose his words. Here is one quote, ” I’ve come to believe that a good cry is like a car wash for the soul.” Another quote after describing some books falling over and making a sound ” …..that sound alone is the reason to have books. May books never disappear. ” I also enjoyed his love of NYC and all the positive encounters he has with strangers.

I feel bad that I haven’t read any cat books lately, I will soon though. I think I spotted a black and white cat last night so I put out food and something ate it, but hubby thinks it was a skunk. Time will smell, I mean tell.

Hopping Saturday

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop ,Rascal and Rocco’s Pet Parade and #PMT Photohunt @tonkstail.

Phoebe is very excited about Cinco de Mayo so she wanted to celebrate that in her art.

Prancie has an expectant look on her face.

And for the A-Z Blogging Challenge, we have a yarmulke.

Friendly Fill-Ins Week 51

Hi everyone! Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins Week 51- next week will be a full year since we started them and we appreciate and thank all who participate. Remember to add your link at McGuffy’s Reader, you can also answer in the comment section.

1. A book I would like to see made into a movie is _________________________________.

2. If I could afford a billboard, it would say ___________________________________.

3. I have a hard time                              .

4. I really enjoy                               .
My answers:
1. A book I would like to see made into a movie is An Interrupted Life: The Diaries 1941-1943 by Etty Hillesum.I reviewed this book back in September 2016.
If I had the money, I would buy the rights and get it made into a movie. I found it even more interesting than Anne Frank’s Diary because Etty was in her 20’s when this was written and was trying to find love as more of her rights were being taken away. It is so good that I haven’t finished it because I know there will be nothing else of hers to read.
2. I could afford a billboard, it would say SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!
3. I have a hard time WITH ANY KIND OF CHANGE.
4. I really enjoy BEING HOME WITH MY CATS.
And for The A-Z Blogging Challenge, we have an x-mas tree, I didn’t want to take the Christ out of Christmas, but I couldn’t think of any other X to crochet.
