Memorial Day

Hi everyone!I know it is Memorial Day, but we are still hopping. We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays, and Mewsic Moves Me (hosted by Curious as a Cathy, Xmas Dolly, JAmerican Spice and Stacy Uncorked.) We are also still doing a Spark.

My spark is a quote by Gandhi- ‘ Speak only if it improves upon the silence.’  I m not sure if it is just me, but it sure seems like there is too much talking everywhere and so much of it is just babble. It drives me crazy to see drivers on their cell phones, people walking and texting. Pardon my rant.

This week is our choice for the Mewsic Hop so I chose a song that goes with my spark.

Neon Trees- Everybody Talks-

And here is another photo of Joanie from her photo shoot with The Great One.

  1. We love Joanie’s patriotic hat, we love your SPARK and agree with it (!), and we think the world could do without as much NOISE as it has especially the negative stuff. Have a PEACEFUL and QUIET Memorial Day!

    Love, Teddy

  3. Love the spark and always love the kitties. I agree that some silence would be wonderful.

Have a purrfect Awww Monday and may your day be filled with wonderful Sparks and much silence. ♥

  4. Oh yes, way too much talking going on. Mom is an introvert and highly values her golden silence, which is why at home, it’s quiet more often than not. Joanie, you are looking so patriotic in that hat, and such a good sport to indulge the Great One. Has Trouble met her yet?

  5. Awww your kitty is all dressed up for the occasion and adorable. Never heard that tune, but it’s definitely an eye opener! ~snicker-snicker~! HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! HAVE FUN & BE SAFE! Thanks for rockin’ out with us! hugs

  6. Mom says she can think of a lot of peeps who could learn a great lesson from that quote:)

Joanie, we think you look very patriotic with your colorful hat.

  7. Your Spark is perfect! I agree with you, and I wish people these days would take the time to enjoy some simple peace and quiet. Joanie, you look so adorably patriotic! We hope you are all enjoying Memorial Day.

  8. At 0:25, the yellow car with the tail fins is a ’59 Chevy Biscayne. We had one until Dad traded it in for a ’66 Ford Galaxie, which he didn’t get much of a chance to drive before he died. Then it was Mom’s car, and she didn’t know how to drive…

  9. Your quote reminds me of a poem that my oldest sister taught me when I was young:
A wise old owl lived in an oak
The more he saw the less he spoke
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Why can’t we all be like that wise old bird?
Honoring our fallen servicepeople, today and every day.

  10. Ellen,

I like the Gandhi quote. I’m so with you on people being on their phones at every turn, even while driving which is totally not safe. The bottom line is talking on the telephone distracts the driver even when he/she doesn’t think it is.

Thanks for sharing Neo Tree with me. I’ve heard of the group before no doubt someone on 4M introduced them to me but I can’t say that I know this tune “Everybody Talks”. It’s high energy and got me boogieing in my chair this morning which I really need. I’m just dragging, dragging, dragging!

It’s great boogieing with you. Have an excellent week and thanks for hitting the dance floor with the Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me gang! 🙂

  11. Watching everyone with their phones is quite amazing…while walking in a park…in a store…everywhere. In your home while visiting. What could possibly be THAT important? Carry it if you must, but does it have to be inches from your face 29 hours a day? By your face at night while you are supposed to asleep? On the dining table home and restaurants? In the doctor’s office? Is it THAT vital?

  12. Hi Ellen,
I LOVE the photo of Joanie celebrating the holiday with her patriotism! She’s so pretty.
Thanks for sharing that song, “Everybody Talks”. What a great song — I never heard it (or the band) before. And it’s a perfect pairing with Ghandi’s quote.
    Well done!

Enjoy the rest of the week,

        • WOW- your building has more crazies than I realized. That is awful. I would not like a patio door because it would be hard to hide and pretend not to be home if you don’t want to visit. XO

          • Mee-you we try not to dwell on all thee ‘craziess’ Aunty! An thee Lady uppystairss iss just berry self-fish. 15. Noise everywhere. I like peace and quiet. Too much technology and I am especially saddened when I see young children allowed to walk around with an ipad in their hands. U G H !
Great all around post and thank you.

    HUGS

  16. I am so right there with you on the driving while talking on the cell phone (or god forbid, texting while driving) and those walking and texting – because they are not paying attention to where they’re going! And block aisles at the store, or run into you without so much as a ‘sorry’ or ‘excuse me’.

Great song, thanks for the introduction!

And I love that picture of Joanie! 🙂

  17. You are right…we need to listen way more…but we just seem to fill in the blank silence that promotes thinking into babble and chatter and gossip. It drives me nuts to see peeps eating together but no one is having a real conversation, they are all on the phones. UGH. I tell my menfolk to put those away when we are all together for dinner…they mostly comply:)

Joanie looks good inn that patriotic hat!

(I just realized that I can access and comment here in my regular browser…now that Iam using my wordpress link instead of the blogger one. Hmmm!)

  18. Wee not sure what youss have in place down there butt where wee live there are BERRY FEW Psyche wardss or Hosspitalss to take care of mentally ill peepull. They are sorta worked on & then let loose an Hosuin says they are Man-Dated to take who efurr iss on thee list. It iss the Province (like a State) that has dun all this. So thee poor crazypantss unwell peepull try to live an they go off meddysinss an cause trubbull.
An Housin just says if wee not like it here wee can move an they will just put sumone else inn our apartmint. The situashun iss a vishuss cycull…like a Hamster on a treadmill…. **sighsss**
