I Had a Wonderful Life

Hi everyone! My folks had to make the toughest decision of their lives today. They had to let me go, I was getting weaker every day and could no longer swallow or even close my little eyes. They are heartbroken and so is my Grammie and my Purrince. I love them all very much. And I love you all too. Thank you for the purrs and prayers, but God had other plans for me. Mom is going to still take a break for a while, but she will visit you all someday soon.

  1. Phoebe’s loss is the loss of all Blogville. She was a vibrant and affectionate kitty. I will miss her something horrible. My pain is nothing to what your family is feeling. Phoebe will be remembered by us all. Dharth of the Purrfect Pad has our sympathies as does Grammie. We can still hear Phoebe saying, “I love her so much.”

  23. Ellen I am deeply sadden by the news today and my heart aches with sorrow for your broken heart. There are no words that can soothe the loss and the quiet where Phoebe once was, that takes time and even with time it still is there that grief you will feel. I believe that with great love comes greater grief but someday when your heart is ready the good memories will outweigh the bad ones and you’ll be filled with all the love. I’m still trying to find mine, and it’s been more than four years, but it is so much better. I will keep you in my prayers, be gentle with yourself and take all the time you need.

You made me smile and downright belly laugh most times when I visited here… some days you turned my day from a crummy day to a good day. I loved how you loved your Grammie’s visits. I know your Mom, Dad, and Grammie’s hearts are broken and I am sending comforting thoughts and prayers for them. You are going to be so missed. 44. Oh Phoebe, I know that you are flying free with all the before cats and I know that Nellie is probably dancing with you. When Nellie left earlier this year, I discovered grief is the deepest emotion I have ever felt; a combination of devastation, despair, powerlessness, and existential fear. But it was not all bad, for in this darkest time I still found moments of light: the beautiful memories that remained of her life. I wanted to hold the memories. I wanted to touch them. I wanted them to materialize.

    I was overcome with an immeasurable desire to tell and retell everyone who would listen about every moment I could remember spending with her and I know Phoebe’s memories with be with you! Know that we love you and are with you.
    I send you much love and strength for the coming days.

  65. I’ve been away for a few days from the Internet and only found out about your loss today. I’m so sorry for hear about the loss of dear Phoebe. I leave you this beautiful poem by Alice E. Chase which I dedicate to sweet Phoebe.

    Your favorite chair is vacant now…
    No eager purrs to greet me.
    No softly padded paws to run
    Ecstatically to meet me.

    No coaxing rubs, no plaintive cry
    Will say it’s time for feeding.
    I’ve put away your bowl, and all
    The things you won’t be needing;

    But I will miss you little friend,
    For I could never measure
    The happiness you brought me,
    The comfort and the pleasure.

    And since God put you here to share
    In earthly joy and sorrow;
    I’m sure there’ll be a place for you
    In Heaven’s bright tomorrow…
