Saturday Fun

Hi everyone! This week for Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop we made a meme. Our friend Savannah is looking for memes for her blog on Friday. Yesterday, she featured one of Joanie’s memes-click here to see it.

You can make memes on several editing sites. We went to the I Can Haz Cheezburger site to make this one of Sammy.

You should give it a try and send them to Savvy.

We also want to tell you about our friend, Billy the Time Cat. He is sending his famous scarf out for anyone to try. You don’t have to have a blog, you can show your photo on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Click here to learn more about how to join in the fun.

And the question for P.S. Annie’s 19-Somethin Challenge is Do you Remember where you were when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded? I am ashamed to say that I haven’t a clue.

Phoebe will see you tomorrow.

  1. We love the meme of Sammy as much as we know he loves his corn. Mom does remember where she was when the Challenger exploded. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  2. I love the corn MEME! We know Sammy loves his corn and while I’ve never tried it before, if it has lots of butter on it – I’ll eat it! HAHAHA Mom remembers when the Challenger exploded – she had just arrived at a big craft fair and they announced it over the loud speaker………the HUGE noisy auditorium became silent………..

    Love, Sammy

  3. That corn sure looks yummy, Sammy. We need to try some of that. I can’t remember where I was when the Challenger exploded. I think I was at home and saw it on TV.
    Have a great week end.

  5. Oh corn, I never tried it. Looks yummie but I rather eat meat.
Thank you for sharing our traveling scarf project. Let us know when it arrives.
Mom was into space big time in that period, she was really upset when she heard the news about the explosion. The Space Shuttle was her favorite NASA project.
The first time mom visited USA, she visited Cape Canaveral. She loved it.

    Purs, Kisses

  6. How cool that you love corn. I do, too. 🙂 Our baby girl *loves* corn and likes to eat the frozen corn without cooking it. She’s a character, that one!

There’s no reason to be ashamed of not remembering where you were when the Challenger exploded. Different things stand out to us over the course of our lives. I totally loved Elvis, but have no clue what I was doing or where I was when I found out that he had died.

Truth be told, the Challenger explosion made a bigger impact on me than 9/11. With 9/11, my friend’s little girl had just died from a cancerous brain tumor at age 10. Her first birthday in Heaven, her 11th birthday, was on 9/11. Our youngest son (our Marine) was in surgery when the towers collapsed. I was too deep in my own personal grief and fear for my son to take on the emotions of a terrorist attack, too. It was horrible what those folks went through and I was sad for them and their families, but had to find a way to deal with grief much closer to home.

I think the Challenger explosion impacted me the way that it did because I was pregnant and thinking how, just totally out of the blue, our lives could be snatched away from us at any moment. Here these people were, just going to do their jobs as astronauts and that school teacher making history…and all those little kids seeing such horror on what should have been a happy, exciting event. It made me worry, thinking what horrors could some day enter the life of my child and our family. I was just a big pregnant ball of emotions.

Thanks for participating in our 19-Somethin’ challenge. Have a blessed Sunday. 🙂
