Hi everyone! Today we are joining Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? This week I am reading a lot of interesting books. Noel is posing with them because she loves to help me read. Kangaroo Dundee by Chris Barns is a memoir of how he came to rescue baby kangaroos. Many kangaroos get run over by cars and many still have babies in their pouches that are still alive which he rescues. I have always liked kangaroos and really enjoy Fozziemum’s photos of them so I just had to read this.
I am also reading a book that I found in the free pile at a book sale. It is in new condition so it makes me sad to think someone found it unworthy of the sale. An Interrupted Life: The Diaries, 1941-1943 and Letters From Westerbork by Etty Hillesum is an amazing book. Etty’s Diaries are similar to Anne Frank’s, but she is in her late 20’s when writing these. She is very bright and is trying to live a normal life despite the Holocaust. I am taking my time reading it because I know she perished in a concentration camp so there is nothing else of hers to read when I am done.
I will tell you more about The Mind-Gut Connection by Emeran Mayer later this week. I will say that there was some interesting information about toxoplasmosis.
We hope Noel’s photo is Awww…worthy for Comedy Plus’ Awwww…….Mondays Blog Hop.
And the question for P.S. Annie’s 19-Somethin’ Challenge is How old were you when you got your first job? What was it? Did you enjoy it?
I got my first job when I was 16. I worked at a daycare center in the after school program with school aged kids. It was a perfect job 3-5:30 weekdays, no weekends. And Summer and vacation weeks were full-time. I loved it and was a big sister to many of the children. I am still friends with several of them to this day.
Hope everyone in the USA has a great holiday! And everyone else have a great day too! Phoebe will announce the winner of her giveaway tomorrow.
